We continually enhance our products, including compatibility with new operating system and hypervisor releases. This document provides information about compatibility of Veeam Backup & Replication with Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and Microsoft Windows 8.

Testing with Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8 has been underway since the first beta versions, and the results of this testing are summarized in the table below.

Our goal is to support new platform releases in a timely fashion, so that when our customers have completed their planning and testing (which typically takes some time) and are ready to upgrade to a new platform release, our products are ready, too.

Q: Will Veeam Backup & Replication support Windows Server 2012?
A: Yes, Veeam Backup & Replication 6.5 will include full support for Windows Server 2012. This includes:

• Protecting VMs running on Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V
• Protecting VMs (whether on VMware or Hyper-V) that are running Windows Server 2012
• Running Veeam Backup components (backup server, backup proxy server, backup repository, Enterprise Manager) on Windows Server 2012

Q: Will the current version of Veeam Backup & Replication support Windows Server 2012?
A: Testing of beta versions of Windows Server 2012 with Veeam Backup & Replication 6.1 revealed a number of incompatibilities. These will be addressed in Veeam Backup & Replication 6.5.

Q: When will Veeam Backup & Replication 6.5 be available?
A: Veeam Backup & Replication 6.5 is slated for release in Q4 2012. Our goal is to support new platform releases in a timely fashion, so that when our customers have completed their planning and testing (which typically takes some time) and are ready to upgrade to a new platform release, our products are ready, too. As always, release timing and content are subject to change.

Q: Will anything else be included in Veeam Backup & Replication 6.5?
A: Yes, other planned enhancements include:

• Support for VMware vSphere 5.1
• Veeam Explorer™ for Microsoft Exchange: visibility into Exchange VM backups
• Veeam Explorer for SAN Snapshots: fast, granular VM recovery from SAN snapshots on HP StoreVirtual VSA and HP LeftHand storage

A: Customers who are current on maintenance can upgrade to the new version free of charge.
