Despite the fact that all of the leading data-protection vendors now consider Veeam to be a primary competitor (and threat), the company continues to rack up impressive growth stats.

Based on our revenue estimates, Veeam appears to be on track to meet its goal of $1bn in revenue in 2018. However, although it's the top gun in VMware data protection, meeting that revenue goal will depend in large part on whether Veeam can maintain momentum in the Hyper-V backup/recovery market, as well as its ability to gain momentum in cloud-based data protection.

For decades companies have settled with painful, complicated, and unreliable legacy tools. This is unacceptable. The average company faces unplanned downtime 13 times a year, causing annual losses of around $800,000.

At Veeam we don’t focus on backup, but on delivering Availability for the Modern Data Center™. We asked our +145,500 customers what they think and 91% say Veeam is more reliable compared to their previous solution.

Take a look and find out why do customers rate Veeam so highly.

Today’s company faces increasing demands to deliver Availability for the Modern Data Center™ and become an Always-On Business™. The 2014 Veeam Data Center Availability Survey shows that 82% of CIOs were unable to provide immediate, 24/7 access to IT services. This availability gap is costing organizations more than $2 million a year in lost revenue, lost productivity, lost opportunities and irretrievably lost data—because backups failed to recover.

This infographic is based on the global 2014 Veeam Data Center Availability Survey of 760 CIOs at 1,000+-employee companies, by independent research agency Vanson Bourne.

Veeam recently surpassed 111,000 customers, 6.5 million protected VMs and 25,000 channel partners. 451 Research attributes Veeam's success to three factors.

  • The company has been quick to innovate in the VM data protection market by taking advantage of hypervisor-based technologies and tightly integrating with virtualization platforms.
  • Veeam courted VM administrators rather than storage professionals, thus avoiding the rip-and-replace conundrum, since VM administrators often installed Veeam's software alongside existing backup software rather than replacing the incumbent vendor.
  • Veeam has an extensive reseller roster of more than 25,000 channel partners.
