Upgrade to Veeam Backup & Replication Version 6

Problem:

Steps for upgrading to Veeam Backup & Replication 6.

Cause:.
Solution:1. Check to see what version of Veeam Backup & Replication you have installed currently.
  • Go to Help --> About  
  • Check what version you have installed, if you do not have version 5.0.1.198 or above, please upgrade to a supported version first.
  • You can get info about downloading the 5.0.2.230 software package here: http://www.veeam.com/kb_articles.html/KB1360
  • Install or upgrade to Veeam Backup & Replication version 5.0.2.230, follow the instructions in the release notes contained in the zip file with the software package
  • Re-run all of your jobs and make sure they complete successfully.
2. Uninstall Veeam Backup & Replication (Database will remain intact)

3. Uninstall Veeam Enterprise Manager

4.  Install Veeam Backup & Replication version 6 using installation package.
  • Check the release notes included in the software package for the system requirements. 
  • Follow the steps provided in the installer wizard.
5. After installation completes download and install the latest patch: http://www.veeam.com/KB1442
  • Follow the steps provided in the installer wizard.


6. Open Veeam Backup & Replication and navigate to Backup Repositories Pane.
  • Ensure any CIFS targets have the correct credentials by checking the Share tab under the Backup Repository Properties. 
  • These credentials need the ability to write to this share.
7.  If necessary, install Veeam Enterprise Manager. 
  • This is not a required component
8.  Run each "legacy job" you have until it is successful to ensure that the target specified in the repository is working properly and job(s) meta-data required for Version 6 job(s) is gathered on your legacy Version 5 job(s).
