Ok, so as I shared previously, 2 questions a week...and here’s the 2nd question. Are you ready??? 😉 Veeam Backup & Replication can be deployed in several different ways. What deployment scenario is depicted by the diagram below? Veeam Deployment Diagram Advanced Custom All-in-one Simple Distributed
Hi Team,I am in the process of getting my head around the set up of Veeam at my organization. It is a Service Providing company and we got VSPC configured too.We have configured the default report produce out of VSPC console for tenant backups. However, i am wondering is there a better tool to effectively monitor the backup jobs of the tenants, and also to identify any bottlenecks of resources if a backup job is failed?Appreciate if someone could guide me on developing (if needed) a script to retrieve the above requested information, or if there is a third-party tool that can be integrated with the VSPC server, please?Thank you so much in advance.Kind regards,Andrew
Neither @Madi.Cristil or @Rick Vanover are in normal circumstances, but it is great to be back to normal-ish! We have a solid list of content this week and have a surprise for next week. We’ve decided to repurpose one of our large Synology boxes (RS3617xs+) and put some big drives to get us adequate storage space. On the bottom layer, the Synology FS will be BTRFS. We will create an iSCSI LUN on said FS, XYZ TB in size, mounted to a Linux VM formatted XFS for both immutability and fast block cloning for synthetic fulls. My question here how do I make sure I’m getting THE BEST compression and deduplication ratios out there from the Veeam side. I assume also “per-vm” repos fit in here as well? If not doing “per-vm” repos, more blocks will be deduped in this scenario than in a “per-vm” repo. This is so we get the best “usage” from our storage and lasts us for some time. Then there’s this article: Data Compression and Deduplication - User Guide for VMware vSphere (veeam.com)Another question, does data compression happen after deduplication?Data CompressionFor backup jobs - I assume the default “Optimal” would fit most scenarios. The more compression, the more resources are n

Hi, Yesterday, we applied the available updates to our Veeam appliance through Veeam Updater UI. There were several updates available and they all were successfully installed and the appliance were rebooted all fine. After applying the updates, we started to see this warning in our Azure portal under this Veeam appliance vm:"Virtual Machines in your subscription are running on images that have been scheduled for deprecation. Once the image is deprecated, new VMs cannot be created from the deprecated image. Upgrade to newer version of the image to prevent disruption to your workloads."As a result, our Azure site recovery replication for this appliance was broken between our primary region UK South to the secondary region UK West. When tried removing and reenabling the replication, it throws the error below:"Site recovery extension does not support the Linux operating system kernel version running on the source machine. Ensure that the VM is running a supported Linux Operating system."Al
Another great one inspired from our top Veeam Agent in the UK MP! You have a customer that wants physical servers to backup to offsite (Cloud) object storage directly. They also want to use the Veeam Agent to protect key business stakeholders (C-suite) devices wherever they are around the globe. To prevent opening the cloud storage to accept connections from any public IP address, you decide to force the endpoints to connect indirectly to object storage, using a gateway over the corporate VPN.To achieve this, you create your Veeam backup repository as object storage, specify the connection mode as direct, and set access permissions to “provided by the backup server (traffic goes through a gateway server)”You then create backup jobs that are managed by the VBR server to target the servers, and create backup job policies that are managed by the Veeam Agent for the device endpoints. What happens when you test this? And what is used as the gateway?

Good day Communtiy -I wanted to ping you all to see if there is interest in a virtual meetup to discuss items you may be struggling with in studying for the VMCE exam. I will create this post as a Poll to first see if there is interest. But, I also would like to know what topic or topics you are struggling with which you feel would be beneficial for an official Veeam Trainer to further explain/clarify. So for the 2nd part of this, please provide a comment below for the topic(s) you would like to get clarified. I’ll let this post run for a week. If there is interest, I will then gather the most or 2 most popular topics wanting to be clarified. I will then set up an interactive webinar with a Veeam Technical Trainer - Razvan Ionescu, for us to do a ‘Teams Meeting’ so you can interact and get your question(s) answered, and hopefully clarified. My hope is this will be a popular option for the Community, so let’s show some interest!
We had a successful VUG event in Houston on Tuesday! The event served as a kickoff for a rotation of in-person meetings that will take place in Texas in the future! Myself and @Mayhem started the event with a quick introduction, before handing off to Backblaze for a quick sponsor presentation. When we returned, we hosted a Veeam expert AMA, where members could share their Veeam environments, ask us and the local Veeam SEs questions to try to stump us, and suggest content they’d like to see in future meetings. After the event, everyone went and spent a few hours playing pinball and retro arcade games. Thanks again to Different Dev, Backblaze, Cloud IBR, and Object First for sponsoring the event, so we could have an awesome evening and some delicious Jimmy John’s. We were also able to hand out some fun swag and do some raffles! We’ll be coming to Dallas next over the summer (likely July-ish), so don’t miss out! Keep your eyes peeled on the Hub for the event sign-up or subscribe to o
