NEW: Veeam ONE integrates with Veeam Backup & Replication to deliver advanced monitoring, reporting and capacity planning for the backup infrastructure.

General

What’s new with Veeam® ONE™ 6.5?

Veeam ONE extends its monitoring and reporting capabilities to Veeam Backup & Replication™, providing a single, integrated solution for virtual and backup infrastructures. Built from Veeam Monitor™, Veeam Reporter™ and Veeam Business View™, Veeam ONE offers customers a powerful, easy-to-use and affordable option for managing their virtual environments.
Veeam ONE 6.5 also introduces full support for VMware vSphere 5.1 and Microsoft Server 2012 Hyper-V, as well as capacity planning for virtual and backup infrastructures.

Is pricing affected?

The price of Veeam ONE is not changing with the release of version 6.5. At its current price point, Veeam ONE is positioned strongly as a very affordable solution for customers of all sizes.

Can Veeam Monitor and Reporter still be purchased separately?

No, Veeam Monitor and Veeam Reporter are no longer offered as standalone products.

What happened to Veeam Monitor Plus?

Monitor Plus was converted to Veeam ONE in 2011, when Veeam ONE was redefined specifically as the combination of Monitor, Reporter and Business View. Monitor Plus and Veeam ONE are considered to be equivalent products.

Free Edition products

Does Veeam offer a Free Edition of Veeam ONE?

Veeam contributes to the virtualization community with free versions of its innovative products, and with the Free Edition of Veeam ONE, users have access to many powerful and easy-to-use features. There are no limits on the hosts, management servers, and Failover Clusters that can be monitored and reported on, so users can easily experience the benefits of Veeam ONE for their whole virtual environment.
Users considering Veeam ONE can also download and use the full version on a free, trial basis for 30 days.

Does Veeam offer Free Editions of Monitor, Reporter and Business View?

Just like the full version of Veeam ONE, the Free Editions of Monitor, Reporter and Business View are combined into a single, integrated solution - Veeam ONE Free Edition.

Licensing

How is Veeam ONE licensed?

Veeam ONE is licensed per CPU socket on hosts with virtual machines (VMs) to be monitored or reported on. A license is required for each occupied motherboard socket as reported by the hypervisor API.

Current customers

Who is eligible to upgrade to Veeam ONE 6.5?

Customers who are current on maintenance for the following products can upgrade for free to Veeam ONE 6.5:

  • Veeam ONE
  • Veeam Monitor and Veeam Monitor Plus
  • Veeam Reporter
  • Veeam Essentials™
  • Veeam Management Suite™

I’m a current Veeam ONE customer. Do I need to do anything?

Current Veeam ONE and Monitor Plus licenses and maintenance contracts remain valid. If you are not already using Veeam ONE 6.0, you will need to generate a new single license key when you upgrade to version 6.5.

How do I obtain a Veeam ONE license file?

Go to the Veeam license management portal to generate your new license key. This license key is required when you install version 6.0 and later versions of Veeam ONE.

I’m using version 6.0 of Veeam ONE now. Do I need a new license file to upgrade to version 6.5?

No, your current license key is still valid.

Monitor-only and Reporter-only customers

What if I previously purchased Veeam Monitor and Reporter separately?

You are automatically upgraded to Veeam ONE, and you will be notified of this update in your next renewal letter. Like current Veeam ONE and Monitor Plus customers, your current maintenance contracts remain valid. You will need to generate a new single license key when you install Veeam ONE 6.5.

What happens if I purchased only Monitor or only Reporter?

Monitor-only and Reporter-only customers are eligible to upgrade to Veeam ONE for free, as long as they are current on maintenance. Whether or not you choose to exercise this option, your next maintenance renewal will be for Veeam ONE.

What if a Monitor-only or Reporter-only customer doesn’t want to upgrade to Veeam ONE? For example, what if I use Monitor, but I don’t want reporting and don’t want to pay the maintenance cost for Veeam ONE?

Customers get additional functionality and greater value for just the cost of maintenance, and Veeam actually lowered the price of Veeam ONE earlier this year to minimize the increase in maintenance. If you have concerns, please contact your Veeam representative.

What if I have a mixed environment in which Monitor and Reporter are deployed to manage different sets of hosts?

As a rule, customers can obtain additional licenses for the minimum number of sockets needed to upgrade their combined Monitor and Reporter sockets to Veeam ONE sockets. For example, if you purchased 10 sockets of Monitor and 4 sockets of Reporter for your virtual environment, you are eligible for 6 additional sockets of Reporter to bring your virtual environment up to 10 total sockets of Veeam ONE.
Customers with mixed environments are allowed to upgrade to the appropriate number of Veeam ONE sockets to cover their requirements. For example, if you have 6 sockets of Monitor to manage your test environment and 8 sockets of Reporter to manage your production environment, you are eligible for 14 total sockets of Veeam ONE – 6 for test and 8 for production – to allow both of your environments to be fully upgraded to Veeam ONE. Because this is not a typical upgrade scenario, you would need to contact Veeam Licensing to obtain the additional licenses.

How do Monitor-only and Reporter-only customers upgrade to Veeam ONE?

Monitor-only and Reporter-only customers can go to the Veeam license management portal to obtain their new, single license key for Veeam ONE. The license key will be issued for the same number of sockets as their current product.
Monitor-only and Reporter-only customers with mixed environments should contact Veeam Licensing (licensing@veeam.com) to arrange for new license keys.

Veeam Management Pack Plus and Veeam Smart Plug-in Plus customers

What Veeam reporting product is included with the Veeam Management Pack™ Plus and Veeam Smart Plug-In™ Plus product suites?

Veeam Reporter v4 provides reporting capabilities for these suites.

Can Veeam MP Plus or Veeam SPI Plus upgrade to Veeam ONE?

Veeam MP Plus and Veeam SPI Plus are special bundles that include Veeam Reporter. MP Plus and SPI Plus customers typically do not need the monitoring capability of Veeam ONE, nor do they want their virtual environments to be impacted by the additional collection of performance data that is required for full Veeam ONE reporting support. As such, MP Plus and SPI Plus customers are not eligible for a free upgrade of their Reporter license to a Veeam ONE license.
