Lessons from global brands on becoming an Always On Enterprise
With data volumes growing out of control, backing up to tape was becoming prohibitively expensive for Volvo dealers in Belgium and Luxembourg. On top of that, slow recovery times for the core management system put a handbrake on dealerships’ ability to trade effectively.
Volvo wanted their dealerships up and running 100% of the time, allowing them to focus on what they do best—selling and servicing Volvo cars. With Veeam Backup & Replication™, dealerships can now fire on all cylinders knowing data is securely backed up offsite with lightning-fast recovery times.
The Volvo dealer management system is now available 24.7.365, streamlining their IT and reducing operational costs. By investing in the only solution Volvo trusted to recover data within four hours, the global brand has greatly minimized their risk for data loss.

Telefonica Germany is one the country’s biggest telecommunications providers — and it plans to grow even bigger. Previously, backup and recovery processes were unreliable and slow, placing Telefonica Germany’s growth and reputation at risk. The tech giant also sought to combine two data centres into one.
Telefonica Germany implemented Veeam Availability Suite™, which helps guarantee network Availability — keeping customers connected and providing a platform for its ambitious plans for business growth.
Today, Telefonica Germany offers a 24.7.365 network, delivering the highest level of customer satisfaction. The company has experienced a 25% reduction in costs over a three-year period, with 1,000 troubleshooting hours saved. Telefonica Germany is now one step closer to becoming the country’s leading digital telecommunications provider.
Serving 42 million customers, processes at Gatwick Airport are supported by 25 mission-critical systems. With IT playing a role in almost every airport operation, failure can lead to downtime, data loss, delays and reputational damage. Gatwick required a redundant, resilient and robust IT infrastructure.
Gatwick relied on Veeam® Backup & Replication™ and Veeam Explorer™ to reduce risks of downtime and data loss, ensuring they are 100% capable of performing recovery quickly. Veeam’s Instant VM Recovery™ restores whole VMs, guest files and application items from regular backups in minutes.
Gatwick has leveraged the benefits of virtualised platforms and storage to accelerate and significantly reduce the complexity of back up processes for 250 VMs across two data centres, securing 38TB of data. This secures Gatwick’s status as the most efficient single-runway airport in the world.
Baloise Group provides a market leading combination of insurance policies and innovative safety solutions. To retain their edge, they sought to eliminate downtime in a high-risk earthquake zone by replicating virtual machines to a new data center in Zürich. However, their legacy backup was old-fashioned, did not provide replication and lacked the enterprise scalability they required.
Baloise Group turned to Veeam® Availability Suite™ to help deliver its simply safe promise by ensuring critical systems are always up and running. Baloise can now meet service level agreements (SLAs) with their business units, enabling them to deliver innovative offerings to their customers. By investing in an agile IT infrastructure, Baloise adds to their edge by responding more quickly to market changes.
Veeam Availability Suite proved more affordable than their previous legacy backup, resulting in savings of 200,000 euros per year and reducing backup time by 50%. When just one hour of downtime in a single office could cost the company 500,000 euros, Veeam’s intuitive system restores an entire server almost instantly. The company is back on course to attract an additional 1 million customers by 2021.
