A gold mine of data, valuable to your organization, is wrapped up in your backups and replicas. These copies of your production data typically sit idle, collecting dust and waiting to be used in a recovery scenario. Did you know you can leverage this copy data for use cases well beyond traditional backup and recovery? With Veeam® DataLabs™ – part of Veeam Backup & Replication™ – you can!
Adding to the longstanding ability to verify recoverability of backups and replicas, Veeam DataLabs unlocks multiple use cases for copy data that go beyond data protection, driving cost and operational efficiencies while improving business agility. This includes the ability to achieve faster application deployment, mitigate risk by testing new upgrades and patches before rolling them out, DevOps, DevTest and even security and compliance verification.
Deliver confidence to the organization while improving operational efficiencies by automatically verifying the recoverability of every backup and replica.
Veeam DataLabs delivers multiple recovery verification options for backups, replicas and snapshots so that you can be certain that your files, applications and virtual machines (VMs) can be reliably restored when needed.
Accelerate the pace of innovation and your delivery strategy with a more iterative approach, enabled by rapid testing and feature rollouts in virtual environments.
Developers can use this self-service method to spin up isolated instances of a production environment to continuously design and test new features before they are rolled out, all without disrupting the network or requiring more storage.
Ensure successful updates and the continuous improvement of your IT infrastructure while deploying saved resources on new features and app development.
With Veeam DataLabs, you can test new patches and updates in a sandbox environment before they go live, minimizing negative impact on production while accelerating testing and deployment.
Proactively use copy data to avoid future security issues and address security incidents without unplanned downtime.
Use copies of data to test for vulnerabilities or perform forensic testing on flagged events or security incidents. With Secure Restore, users can perform anti-virus scans on all backup files planned for restores to verify that the data is virus free.
Users can utilize copy data to evaluate and proactively ensure compliance while minimizing the impact on your environment and reducing workloads.
With Staged Restore, users can streamline the General Data Protection Regulation’s (GDPR) “right to be forgotten” removal process with custom scripts and automation, then immediately test and migrate the data to production.
Need to change your production environment, test a patch, research a security incident, upgrade a system or deploy a new application? With On-Demand Sandbox™, you can easily start a copy of your production environment at any time for a variety of testing, security, training or troubleshooting purposes, including the following:
You can benefit from Veeam’s strong alliances and leverage your primary storage investments with On-Demand Sandbox™ for Storage Snapshots. Available for VMware vSphere and the world’s leading storage providers, On-Demand Sandbox for Storage Snapshots can be used to provision a complete isolated copy of your production environment in just a few clicks by running copies of production VMs directly from storage snapshots.
With SureBackup® and SureReplica*, you can deliver confidence to your organization while improving recovery-related operational efficiencies by automatically verifying the recovery of every backup, replica and snapshot.
SureBackup and SureReplica jobs enable you to test, validate and prove recoverability from any restore point within a backup or replica in an isolated, non-disruptive and non-destructive environment. To perform recovery verification, Veeam DataLabs automatically boots the VM in an isolated environment before performing a series of predefined tests such as heartbeat, networking and application status to ensure proper functionality. The VM is then subsequently powered-off with all changes during the test discarded and then a VM backup or VM replica state report created and sent.
