It only seems like yesterday that I stepped into my role as Veeam President and COO, but it’s actually been more than eight months — and what an amazing eight months they’ve been! When I took this role, I knew I was joining a special company, one with a rich heritage of innovation and success, a loyal customer base, passionate employees and a terrific reputation in the industry. Veeam’s vision for a highly virtualized, cloud-first era, where 24.7.365 access to information from anywhere, at any time — or Availability, as we call it — is something users can expect and not dream about hooked me.
However, what I heard about Veeam prior to joining the team was a massive understatement, and having just completed our series of sales kick-off events, I am more excited now about Veeam’s future than ever before.
Take our 2016 sales results for example. All I can say is wow. The entire Veeam ecosystem — partners, customers and employees — should be proud of these results, as they are a phenomenal achievement:
- 28% YoY growth, hitting $607m in total bookings revenue
- We now count 73% of the Fortune 500 and 56% of the Global 2000 as customers
- New enterprise license bookings grew by 57%, while the number of new enterprise customers grew almost 49% to 761
- Cloud revenue rocketed by 79% YoY
- We added close to 50,000 total paid customers in 2016, to amass more than 230,000 customers
- Our partner ecosystem grew to 45,000 ProPartners worldwide
How many companies of our size report sales results like this? You can probably count them on one hand! Veeam continues to break records and outpace the market in both vision and growth. I am immensely proud. But the numbers, regardless of how great they are, only tell half of the company’s 2016 story.
I could go on and on about specific achievements, teams and markets, but it’s too much to share. While 2016 was a huge success, 2017 will be even bigger for everyone involved with Veeam.
2017 will be a time of rapid growth and accelerated innovation, with Veeam being laser-focused on enabling our customers and partners to embrace business transformation through the cloud. Businesses of all sizes are challenged with delivering services at any time, from anywhere, while at the same time streamlining costs and engaging efficiency. With the next generation of Availability, Veeam Availability Platform for the Hybrid Cloud, Veeam will be providing businesses and enterprises of all sizes with the means to guarantee Availability for the Hybrid Cloud with virtual, physical and cloud-based workloads.
I wish I could tell you more about what we have planned, but let me just promise you that our R & D teams have several tricks up their sleeves and the innovations you will see from us in the coming year will transform the market. The company has the history, breadth of solutions, broad partner ecosystem, structure, customer foundation and drive to succeed. As I reflect on our sales kick-off events, I can assure you that we have never been in a better position to step up a gear.
Mark my words, 2017 will be Veeam’s year!
