Spirits are high at this year’s VeeamON in Chicago, it’s day one and shaping up to be an excellent event, with customers and partners having arrived from all over the world for the Premier Conference for Intelligent Data Management. The goals of the attendees vary of course, but whether they are here to network with peers or connect with Veeam experts, they all share one thing in common — their interest in the future of Hyper-Availiability.
I often say that it’s no longer a question of whether cloud is the future — it plays a key role today and will continue to do so. And, it is a also big part of Veeam’s vision, and that fact was reflected in the innovative cloud announcements that Veeam made today. We at Veeam recognize that enterprises are embracing a multi-cloud strategy with a mix of solutions across private, public and hybrid clouds. True to our legendary pace in the market, Veeam has expanded its portfolio to address the shift to multi-cloud adoption with solutions that enable customers to protect data, using the cloud provider that best matches their target workloads, whether it’s Microsoft, Amazon Web Service (AWS), IBM Cloud, or one of our 18,900 Veeam Cloud & Service Provider (VCSP) partners. Let’s dive into a recap on all the exciting cloud momentum and buzz at VeeamON today.
Earlier this year, Veeam announced the general availability of Veeam Recovery to Microsoft Azure, a complete solution for leveraging the public cloud as an on-demand recovery site – making advanced recovery affordable for many businesses. Since its release, customers have been taking advantage of this solution with over 2,500 downloads and 112,000+ hours of Azure usage per month.
Building on strong client momentum and growth, Veeam has expanded its collaboration with IBM Cloud. Enterprises around the world such as Movius and Osram Licht AG are leveraging Veeam on IBM Cloud to enhance protection of their workloads. Over the past year, the amount of workloads protected by Veeam in IBM has grown by 1,000 percent. In addition to VMware and Hyper-V, Veeam Agents are now available on IBM Cloud on physical and virtual workloads running on Windows or Linux, which offers comprehensive data protection for hybrid environments for large enterprises.
Also, IBM Business Resiliency Services, a division of IBM Services now offers managed services on Veeam to expand data protection for IBM mid-market and enterprise customers’ workloads for on-premises, hybrid and multi-cloud environments. Lastly, there are a growing set of IBM business partners that now sell Veeam on IBM Cloud to help meet customer needs for data protection in the cloud.
A big focus for Veeam is expanding our portfolio to support protection across AWS environments. And Veeam demonstrated that commitment with the acquisition of N2WS earlier this year, strengthening our ability to protect AWS workloads.
Since then, N2WS reported an increase in Q1’2018 bookings of 153 percent YoY with 100 percent growth in installed trials / POCs. In terms of products, N2WS is extending its offerings for serverless computing options with support for Amazon DynamoDB and new disaster recovery options for Amazon Aurora in its Cloud Protection Manager version 2.3, helping end-users increase Availability to AWS’s NoSQL cloud database service.
VCSPs (Veeam Cloud and Service Providers)
Veeam now has 18,900 partners, including new platinum-level VCSP partners Equinix, Involta, Nexon and ISG. VCSP partners are continuing to see growing revenue and profits and the number of VMs protected by Veeam-powered solutions grew 36 percent YoY. In addition nearly 2,000 VCSP partners have opened licenses for our most recent Veeam solutions including Veeam Agents for Microsoft Windows and Linux; Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365. Veeam Availability Console, a recently announced purpose-built tool to deliver Veeam-powered remote managed services which has been downloaded more than 2,700 times since its launch in Q4’2017, this enables VCSP partners to centralize management and visibility of customer environments.
VeeamON 2018 will be an excellent event this week. Last year, nearly 10,000 customers, partners and influencers attended VeeamON 2017 in New Orleans, LA, and the regional VeeamON Forum events held all around the world. Whatever stage you’re at in your multi-cloud journey or quest for Hyper-Availability, I guarantee you’ll have some great takeaways from this event regardless of whether you are attending or not.
