Advanced scalability mode in Veeam Monitor

Challenge

Huge environments require intensive data collection with Veeam Monitor in order to present granular performance statistics. The data collection process might incur problems while retrieving large amounts of data from the virtual environment.

Cause

You need general performance dynamics instead of real-time data monitoring within the virtual infrastructure.

Solution

The advanced scalability mode is intended for analyzing data within huge virtual infrastructure deployments that use a number of vCenter Servers and thousands of virtual machines. This mode allows you to reduce the frequency of data collection and amount of data stored in the SQL database. As a result, the load on the SQL Server side is reduced.

The advanced scalability mode can be used when it is necessary to trace the general dynamics of collected data instead of real-time data monitoring In the advanced scalability mode, the performance data inside the database is less granular.

In the advanced scalability mode, the following counters are not collected:
  • CPU usage

  • CPU usage MHz

  • CPU ready

  • Disk Usage

  • Memory usage

  • Memory balloon

  • Memory consumed

  • Memory overhead

  • Network usage

Please note that with the advanced scalability mode enabled, no real-time data or statistics is collected by Veeam Monitor.
