Challenge

When attempting to perform modification of the registry hive of a Domain Controller in a SureBackup Job, VDK encounters an error. You can successfully mount and modify the hive, but when you try to save it, the following error occurs:

Cause

The issue may be caused by lack of permissions for the service account, under which the Veeam Backup Service runs in the Local Security Policy.

Solution

 
To call RegSaveKeyEx successfully, you need to assign the SE_BACKUP_NAME privilege.
You can check the privilege on your machine under Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy > Local Policies > User Rights Assignment > Back up files and directories
