Can't find datastore LUNs or information in Backup Infrastructure for 'hp' datastore. VM is not SAN mode compatible.

Challenge

Veeam B&R cannot trigger Backup from Storage Snapshots (HP Storage Systems). However, traditional Direct SAN works flawlessly.
 
You may find the following entries in the Job.<Job name>.Backup.log / Job.<Job name>.Replica.log:
 
[timestamp] <01> Info     [ViJobSanSource] Can't find datastore LUNs or information in Backup Infrastructure for 'hp' datastore. VM is not SAN mode compatible.
 
Rescan cannot detect HP LUN even if you added vCenter/ESXi with this LUN to Veeam console properly:

Cause

Veeam B&R doesn’t support CHAP authentication yet and therefore cannot obtain IQN of the hosts registered in HP server to map them with added ESXi servers.
 

Solution

Please launch HP Centralized Management console and connect to your HP Storage System. Find your ESXi server in the “Servers” menu, right click and select “Edit Server…” and add IQN. Please do this for each ESXi host:

Next, rescan the HP server in the SAN infrastructure (v7) or Storage Infrastructure (v8). If everything is configured correctly you will see the following result and backup/replica will work from Storage Snapshots:
