ExplorerManagementService: Failed to get VM mount | Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SQL Server

Challenge

In some cases, restore of a database via VESQL may fail with the following error message:

SQL metadata for database <dbname> not found in restore point

Cause

This issue may occur if the VM disk on which the SQL database files are located is attached to a SCSI controller with pciSlotNumber larger than 1024.

pciSlotNumber of a SCSI controller can be found in the .vmx file of the VM.

Solution

Note: This issue is corrected in version 8.0.0.2018+ as part of Update 2 https://www.veeam.com/kb2024

To resolve the issue, move the disk to a SCSI controller with a smaller pciSlotNumber and re-run the backup.
