Challenge

After installing Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows and configuring a backup job, the settings are not shown in the Control Panel, and Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows keeps prompting to configure backup settings.

Cause

The Windows OS was installed with non-English region and culture settings. As a result, these settings were applied to the Windows system account.
Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows is based on Microsoft .NET Framework, which has some limitations regarding particular OS cultures.

Solution

Set the Format to English (United States) for the system account.

  1. Open the Region settings (press Win + R > type intl.cpl > press Enter)
  2. On the Formats tab, set Format to English (United States).
  3. Switch to the Administrative tab and click Copy Settings.
    1. Confirm that the Format is set to English for the Current user
    2. Enable the Welcome screen and system accounts checkbox
    3. Click OK to save settings and return to the Administrative tab.
  4. Click OK to close the Region settings and save settings.
  5. Restart the machine

Once the necessary changes are applied to the system account using the steps above, a non-English Format can be set for the Current user account. Note that the Format for the system account must remain English (United States).
