Challenge

In the preferred network rules, you would like to specify IP ranges for the Microsoft Hyper-V server or Off-host backup proxy other than those received by DNS resolution.

Cause

By default, Veeam Backup & Replication stores only the IP addresses for Hyper-V hosts that DNS provides.

Solution

Enabling the following setting will cause Veeam Backup & Replication to collect the IP addresses of all NICs on the Microsoft Hyper-V server(s) or Off-host backup proxy instead of only collecting via DNS.

Key Location: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication\
Value Name: HvCollectAllHostAddresses
Value Type: DWORD (32-Bit) Value
Value Data: 1

After this registry value is created on the Veeam Backup Server, rescan the Hyper-V Hosts to update the recorded IP addresses for the rescanned host.
