Effective August 17, 2015, Veeam is announcing the end-of-sale and end-of-life date for Veeam Smart Plug-in (SPI) for VMware. The last day to purchase Veeam SPI will be December 31, 2015. Customers with active support agreements will be supported through the end of their agreements and may continue to purchase support through the December 31, 2016. No further updates or upgrades will be made to the Veeam Smart Plug-in.
Who is affected?
Customer who purchased the Veeam Smart Plug-in either as a perpetual license or as any one of the hosting or other licensing versions.
What are the options for current Veeam SPI customers?
Current Veeam SPI customers can continue to use v5.7 with the supported HP and VMware platforms listed below (see Supported Platforms).
In addition, customers with active maintenance and support contracts may choose to migrate their SPI licenses one-for-one, for either the Veeam Management Pack for System Center or Veeam ONE licenses through December 31, 2016. To take advantage of this offer simply go to the Veeam Get Support Portal, open a ticket and request help with this migration offer.
What if my (SPI) Support and Maintenance Agreement has expired?
For customers without Current (SPI) Support Agreements can take advantage of this offer by renewing their SPI Support Agreement through the Veeam License Management Portal. Once the support is renewed, customers can go directly to the Veeam Get Support Portal to open a ticket and request help with this migration offer.
Can customers mix & match Management Pack and Veeam ONE license?
No. Customers can either choose to have the current licenses exchanged for the Veeam Management Pack for System Center or Veeam ONE.
Can I continue to use my Veeam SPI license after migrating them?
Yes. Veeam realizes that customers will need time to build out and test the new deployments of Veeam Management Pack or Veeam ONE.
Can I renew my Veeam SPI licenses after migrating them to MP or Veeam ONE?
No. Previous SPI support will continue until the existing SPI maintenance expires, it cannot be renewed once the license grant has been made.
What happens to current and future purchases?
Customers may purchase additional Veeam SPI licenses through the end-of-sale date of December 31, 2015. After this date SPI licensing SKUs will no longer be for sale.
Will support be available if I do not want take advantage of the license migration offer to MP or Veeam ONE?
Yes! Customers may purchase either 1 or 2 years of support agreements. Last day to purchase support will be December 31, 2016.
What if additional licenses are needed?
Customers may purchase additional Veeam SPI licenses through the end-of-sale date of December 31, 2015. After this date, SPI licensing SKUs will no longer be for sale.
When will support end for Veeam Smart Plug-in?
Support contracts will be honored until the Support Agreement end date.
Why is the Veeam Smart Plug-in for VMware reaching this end-of-life milestone?
With the recent announcement by HP to discontinue support for the HP Performance Insight (OVPI) module, the Veeam SPI plug-in, which by default is dependent upon the OVPI module will also be discontinued.
Does this mean Veeam is no longer focused on HP?

Are new license keys needed?
If a customer chooses to remain on SPI v5, they will not need a new license key.
If customer chooses to migrate their SPI licenses for either Veeam Management Pack for System Center or Veeam ONE, they will need a new license.
Can you integrate Veeam Management Pack for System Center alerts with HP OpenView?
Yes. Veeam Management Pack requires the deployment of Microsoft System Center. In addition, customers will need to install and configure the Integration Pack for HP Operations Manager (an add-on for System Center 2012 – Orchestrator). To learn more click here.
Can you automatically send Veeam ONE alerts to HP OpenView?
Yes. One of the more popular ways to integrate Veeam ONE with HP OpenView is to use SNMP traps. Additional instructions on how to configure SNMP traps can be found at the Veeam Help Center.
