As a value-added reseller (VAR), Mirazon recommended Veeam Backup & Replication™ as an essential part of each customer’s virtualization strategy.
“Veeam made us look good from the get-go,” said Barry Martin, Chief Executive Officer at Mirazon. “We downloaded a free trial of version 1 in our data center, and as soon as we realized Veeam delivered what our legacy product couldn’t – reliable recovery – we started moving all of our customers to Veeam. Today, we are an internationally recognized IT consulting firm, and Veeam is still the reason we’re able to deliver a complete virtualization solution and 24x7 availability, creating happy, long-term customers.”
As cloud computing took on steam, Mirazon recognized an opportunity to enter the fast-growing cloud services market as a managed service provider (MSP). Providing BDR in the cloud was the logical next step and a perfect complement to Mirazon’s complete virtualization solution.
The timing and circumstances were right for Mirazon to offer BDR in the cloud. Most customers managed their virtual machines (VMs) on-premises and backed up on site. They didn’t have a second site where they could replicate VMs for DR, and they weren’t keen to build and maintain a second site. Some customers copied their backups to tape and moved them off site, but recovery from tape could be timeconsuming and labor-intensive.
“Many of our customers don’t have the time or headcount to manage BDR,” Martin said. “They’re experiencing significant business growth, and they’re focused on keeping up with demand. Our biggest customers are in merger and acquisition mode. They need us to help them meet their DR requirements quickly.”
Before becoming an MSP, Mirazon faced two challenges: finding a trusted cloud provider and the best way for customers to move their data to the cloud.
“Business continuity is the top priority for our customers,” Martin said. “They expect 24x7 availability, and it must be easy, cost-effective and flexible. Our goal was to take our customers’ technology initiatives – their constant, break-fix costs and their DR dreams – and make them both achievable and financially manageable.”
Today Mirazon is a successful MSP, and its VAR business continues to thrive. One of the common denominators in Mirazon’s success is Veeam. Veeam helps Mirazon acquire new customers, meet their needs with 24x7 availability and build recurring revenue streams.
“Veeam Backup & Replication had a dramatic impact on our virtualization consulting practice, and now Veeam Cloud Connect has enabled us to add a managed service practice,” Martin said. “Veeam has evolved with our business. Without Veeam, we wouldn’t be able to do the things we can do for our customers.”
When current or prospective customers want offsite backups and replicas, Mirazon recommends they deploy Veeam Backup & Replication in their data centers (if they haven’t already) and take advantage of Veeam Cloud Connect, which is part of the Veeam Backup & Replication license. Customers connect to Mirazon’s cloud partner eFolder Inc., which is a member of the Veeam Cloud & Service Provider (VCSP) program.
eFolder provides business continuity and file sync services exclusively to the IT channel. VARs, MSPs, system integrators and IT service providers partner with eFolder to drive business for themselves and their customers. If one of Mirazon’s customers experiences a disaster situation, Mirazon will run the customer’s VMs in eFolder’s cloud until normal operations resume.
“It’s critical to our success to be able to tell our customers that at a moment’s notice we’ll be there to get them up and running quickly,” Martin said. “That’s what Veeam does for us. Veeam is the Swiss Army Knife of availability.”
