With Microsoft releasing Windows Server 2022, Veeam have delivered support for this in Veeam B&R and Veeam ONE v11a. This includes support not just for protecting Hyper-V VMs on the OS, or guest OS support, but also running all the relevant Veeam Components and services on Windows Server 2022. This is truly a great milestone that Veeam have achieved so promptly after the release of this operating system. There’s more to this story however, Veeam currently ships with SQL Server 2016 Express edition as its default database if you don’t choose to install your own first. This will leave you in an unsupported state with Microsoft as only SQL Server editions still within mainstream support are supported for Windows Server 2022, for SQL Server 2016, mainstream support ended in July 2021.Now we know the danger, we’ve got two topics to discuss up again, firstly, how do we install a supported version of SQL Server for Veeam? And secondly, what do I do if I’m running SQL Server 2016 on Windows
Guess what day it is?! Yep, it’s VMCE Practice Exam Question day! As I shared on Tue, questions are going to be a bit more difficult. When attempting to answer, try and make your attempt “exam like”. Hide any comments (answers) already shared, and try to answer the question on your own without researching, & see how well you do.Starting next week, I’m going to add an additional question day on Wed, providing a question from a Veeam Technical Trainer. I’ll keep the post subject the same for Hub searching purposes, but will add “(VTT)” so you know it’s an extra question and from a Veeam Technical Trainer (VTT) 😊 Hope you’re finding all the questions beneficial! And don’t forget, tomorrow I’ll provide answers/comments/links to both today’s and Tue’s questions. So, without further ado…. The Security Administrator at your company comes to you, the Backup Administrator, wanting assurance your backup environment meets server hardening requirements. You log onto the Backup Server and run
Hi everyone, recenly i’m doing some test on the veeam backup&replication community edition on my Dell R710 which is running server 2019 standard. And at the first time, i can add a hyper-v server which is running server2019 (standalone) to the backup job, but once i deleted the job, i cannot add any hyper-v again. It always shows :Failed to connect to host 10.178.3.41Access denied or timeout expired. (sometimes is invalid namespace)Check if you have local administrator privileges on computer '10.178.3.41'.Possible reasons:1. Invalid credentials.2. Specified host is not a Hyper-V server.================what i did for this issue:https://www.veeam.com/kb1914 https://www.scribd.com/document/421024195/Veeam-Backup-Invalid-Credentials-Error-Adding-a-Hyper# I added both the target server and the server with the veeam installed to the domain created the local admin account for both server, using same account and pwd using domain admin account cannot work checking the port and disable the
Hello all, Today I come to you with an important issue for me. Has anyone used Quantum's DXi backup appliance? How do you think the product integrates with Veeam? I need some important information like dedup rate, data security, write/read performance. If anyone has experience with this it would be great.
Another week, another high severity vulnerability. The Zero Days have been used to compromise government networks and there is no workaround except for patching. Hey guys,I have the same random problem with my Proxies (Windows), VMDK are still attached to my proxies randomly once the job finish. The proxies are not backuped during the different backup jobs. The Vms that Veeam processed is found to require consolidation. On the vmware side I found a log " Unable to access file since it is locked An error occurred while consolidating disks: Failed to lock the file. Consolidation failed for disk node 'scsi0:0': Failed to lock the file." at the end of the backup job.But I don’t find the root cause. Have any of you ever encountered this problem?
Good afternoon all.I have been working on a project for a client over the past two months which included the client having move over to Veeam from an old outdated backup solution. The client has an external RDX drive with 2TB RDX cartridges, one for each day of the week. Currently their backups have been failing as of two weeks ago with the report clearly indicating lack of free space on the RDX cartridge. When checking, old backups from Feb are still there and have not been purged.Currently I have a repository setup to the F:\ drive (external RDX drive) which the “Backup Job” saves too.The job itself is backing up the whole VM from Hyper-V, it has a 3 restore point retention policy, and is set to Incremental with create active full backups on Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, and Fri. All other advanced settings are left as default. Can someone help me understand why the older jobs from Feb aren’t being purged out pertaining to the retention policy?Thank you!
Good day. I’m setting up a new Veeam 12.1 on-prem environment. Currently the Veeam B&R server is not domain-joined. We are working on a separate management domain, but it’s not yet ready. And, I don’t think it should matter as a workgroup setup is a recommended best practice.I’m attempting to add an SMB file share from a domain-joined Windows 2019 file server to Veeam, but it’s not able to access the file server share. For instance, the file server is “fileserver01” and the share is “P$”. I can navigate to it from my desktop or a domain server using “\\fileserver01.domain.com\p$”. I have tried using my domain credentials as well as the local file server administrator account (fileserver01\administrator), but Veeam cannot access that file share.Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
