What’s New in Veeam Availability Console Update 1?

Veeam® Availability Console is a cloud-enabled platform built specifically for Veeam Cloud & Service Provider (VCSP) partners and resellers looking to launch and run a managed services business. Veeam Availability Console enables you to increase revenue and add value to all your customers through its ability to remotely provision, manage and monitor virtual, physical and cloud-based Veeam environments without any special connectivity requirements.

Major new features

Enhanced support for Veeam Agents
Veeam Availability Console Update 1 introduces support for Veeam Agents that are managed by Veeam Backup & Replication™. This enables you to extend your monitoring services to even more Veeam customers who are managing Veeam Agents with a local Veeam Backup & Replication server, but still wanting the expertise that you can bring to their business. This new feature includes monitoring and alarms for Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows and Veeam Agent for Linux instances that are managed by a Veeam Backup & Replication.
New user role
VCSP partners wanting to delegate Veeam Availability Console access to their own IT staff can now take advantage of the new operator role without granting complete control. This role permits access to everything essential to the remote monitoring and management of customer environments, but restricts access to Veeam Availability Console configuration settings.
ConnectWise Manage plugin
Veeam Availability Console Update 1 includes native integration with ConnectWise Manage. This integration allows VCSP partners the ability to synchronize and map company accounts between the two applications, consolidating all managed services into a single management view. The integration also extends to billing, enabling you to use ConnectWise Manage to generate tenant invoices based on their usage. Additionally, this native plugin allows you to create tickets based on triggered alarms in Veeam Availability Console, bundling them with the reference to the managed computer, which is also known as a “configuration” in ConnectWise Manage.

Other enhancements

Improved Veeam Backup & Replication monitoring
Resolve customer issues even faster through optimizations to the data collection engine, which uses eventbased triggers to collect new information.
New backup policy types
Keep your customers’ data even more secure through two new backup policy types: public and private. Public backup policies are visible to all managed clients, while private backup policies can only be viewed by the companies these policies have been assigned to.
Improved cloud backup policies options
You can now select to either pre-create sub-tenant accounts as a part of the backup policy configuration or select a single user account for all Veeam Agents using the cloud repository as a target.
Alarm for tracking VMs stored in cloud repositories
This new alarm allows you to be notified when the number of customer VMs stored in the cloud repository exceeds a certain threshold.
Improved support for Veeam Agents deployed via third-party tools
Veeam Agents deployed via third-party software management tools can now be updated using a connection to either the master management agent, or to the Veeam update server hosting Veeam Agent bits for Veeam Availability Console. This enables the backup agent update to be performed even when the master management agent is offline or does not have the administrative credentials to access remote computers to orchestrate the update procedure.
Improved sub-tenant management
Management of sub-tenant accounts was made easier with all sub-tenant accounts now being displayed as a separate user role in the Veeam Availability Console UI.
RESTful APIs enhancements

More information stored in the Veeam Availability Console configuration database can now be queried and accessed via new RESTful API additions, including:

  • Managed backup server licenses
  • Tenant descriptions
  • References to the parent object for users, discovery rules and computers
Scalability enhancements
Scalability limits for the number of managed Veeam Backup & Replication servers for each Veeam Availability Console instance have increased significantly, ensuring optimal operation and performance when managing up to 10,000 Veeam Agents and up to 600 Veeam Backup & Replication servers, protecting 150-200 VMs or Veeam Agents each.
