The amount of information that keeps our businesses afloat increases every day: Emails on our servers, Excel files, PowerPoint files, Word files, ERP databases, VDI environments and most of all, our virtual machines that support all this. Microsoft published a study where it found that by 2020, the information created by each person may exceed 5TB. With all this information that is created every day, we as IT administrators are responsible for storing and protecting it in an optimal and reliable way, using compression and deduplication technologies.

Since Microsoft Windows Server’s 2012 release, we have a role that we can install on any server where we store information and deduplicate it, which reduces the size of the information stored by 50% or more.

This white paper shows the new features of the Windows Server 2016 regarding deduplication, as well as the advantages offered and how to activate and use it with Veeam® Backup and Replication™. We will also find some good practices and tips on using deduplication and Veeam.

Microsoft takes care of quite a bit, and provides a great service for their customers. However, Microsoft's primary focus is on managing your Office 365 infrastructure and maintaining uptime to your users. They are empowering YOU with the responsibility of your data.

The misconception that Microsoft fully backs up your data on your behalf is quite common, and without a shift in mindset, could have damaging repercussions when this responsibility is left unattended.

Do you know how to upload files to a Microsoft Azure VM? The cloud, like Microsoft Azure, provides flexibility and scalability, but getting data in and out of a Microsoft Azure VM isn’t as easy as it might look. There are several ways to copy files to and from Azure VMs, but each brings challenges or has some limitations. The lack of decent tools to solve such day-to-day tasks quickly and effortlessly is a true blocker for cloud adoption.

Veeam® addresses the challenge of trouble-free copying of files and data to and from Microsoft Azure VMs with Veeam FastSCP™ for Microsoft Azure, a free solution that overcomes complexity and limitations.

In this white paper, you will get an in-depth overview of all the known methods you can use to get your data in and out of Microsoft Azure VMs. You’ll also learn how Veeam FastSCP™ for Microsoft Azure can help you to perform secure file copy from on site to Azure VMs and from Azure VMs to on site, without VPN.

Read this FREE white paper by Veeam expert Mike Reseller and learn more about:

  • Moving data to/from Microsoft Azure VMs with traditional methods — via VPN, through RDP and using an FTP server
  • Secure file copy with Veeam, without any VPN
  • Automatic scheduling of file copy jobs to and from Azure VMs with Veeam
  • And much more!
