In January 2020, an independent research firm completed a survey of 1,550 enterprises across 18 countries on what their data protection challenges and goals were. The survey included 217 financial service organisations.
This project was commissioned by Veeam and helmed by two former industry analysts with a combined 60 years of experience in the data protection industry. In this report, we explore the results and insights from the survey, that details the digital transformation paths and ambitions for financial services.

Jason Buffington (@JBuff) is a Vice President within the Product Strategy team at Veeam. He has been in the data protection industry for over 30 years, working on a variety of backup, replication/failover, and BC/DR solutions within data protection vendors and Microsoft. Prior to joining Veeam, Jason was the Principal Analyst at the Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG) covering the myriad data protection vendors and providers in the IT industry. Outside of IT, Jason is an active volunteer leader in Scouting BSA.
At Veeam, Jason focuses accelerating the success of enterprise customers through Veeam's key alliance partnerships, as well as strategic special projects, evangelizing thought leadership at key industry events, and communicating Veeam’s long-term vision and strategy.
Dave Russell

Dave Russell is a 32-year veteran in the storage industry, serving as Veeam's Vice President of Enterprise Strategy, responsible for driving strategic product and go-to-market programs, spearheading industry engagement and evangelizing Veeam’s vision for Modern Data Protection. Prior to Veeam, he held the role of Vice President and distinguished analyst at Gartner for 13 years and spent 15 years at IBM in product development for mainframe and open systems backup/recovery.
