Veeam RootAccess
for VMware

Veeam RootAccess Wizard helps you enable or disable remote root access, or create a regular non-root user account which is not allowed by default on ESX Server.  The newly created non-root user will belong to the default ‘users’ group and will be automatically granted remote ssh access. Su or sudo commands can then be used to elevate to the root account for privileged operations.

Note: To follow security best practices it is recommended to use a regular local account for remote ssh connections as it leaves an audit trail to help you track user activity.

Configuration Experts

There are two configuration wizards available to you in Veeam Root Access:

RootAccess Expert helps you to enable or disable remote root access.

AddUser Expert helps you create a user account with shell access on one or multiple ESX hosts simultaneously.

Veeam RootAccess for VMware Infrastructure was originally developed as a part of  Veeam Configurator product.

Veeam Configurator extends capabilities of RootAccess and allows you to discover, manage and enforce your ESX and ESXi hosts' configuration from a single interface

With Veeam Configurator you can perform
  • Automated discovery of configuration settings
  • Change management and reporting
  • Complete configuration management of all your ESX servers
  • Compliance auditing
  • Change simulation

How it works
