Hi all. There is the possibility that this weekend I might need to restore all of our domain controllers in our domain (hopefully this does not come to pass). It is not a very active AD domain so hopefully but I might have to go back about 3 weeks to get around a problem. Can someone point me to documentation as to how to do this from within Veeam with all the DCs down? This would mean that no dns resolution will be happening (do I have to create a hosts file on the Veeam server to get around this?).Another hiccup is that for one of the DCs, I notice now that application aware processing has not been turned on so it is going to be restored as just a member server without any special processing for the AD database.Thanks.
Hi Veeam Community, I'm Daria from Veeam. I'm working behind the scenes to enhance your VeeamON experience and explore new networking opportunities for attendees. We're considering introducing a 'Coffee Connect' feature before the event, designed to kickstart networking early. Coffee Connect would allow attendees to sign up for a 15-minute chat with another VeeamON attendee at random. I would appreciate your input on moving forward with this idea. Please take a poll below and comment your thoughts and if you will definitely use this feature :) Thanks for your help, Best, Daria K
Veeam 12.1 Community Edition running on Windows Server 2022 Standard. The host is Hyper-V. The repository is on a QNap. This is a new installation. I’m getting the following error when backing up a VM:Error: Failed to call RPC function 'FclsExists': The user name or password is incorrect The passwords for the repository and Hyper-V host are both confirmed good, as I was able to add, remove, and add them, again, to Veeam. Thanks, Chris
Forgive me, as this isn’t strictly a Veeam topic, but I’m pulling my hair out.I’m trying to enhance a Windows Update Powershell script. The current script occasionally hangs when we invoke a COM CreateUpdateSearcher() method.$updateSession = new-object -com "Microsoft.Update.Session"$Criteria = "IsInstalled=0"$updates = $updateSession.CreateupdateSearcher().Search($criteria).UpdatesThis runs synchronously, so I can’t trap the hang. Instead, I want to use the BeginSearch() method that runs asynch (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/wuapi/nf-wuapi-iupdatesearcher-beginsearch). My problem is it requires an ‘IUnknown ISearchCompletedCallback’ object to be passed as one of the parameters. I don’t need this to be invoked, so it can be an empty object, but I can’t work out how to create an empty IUnknown object.$UpdateSession = New-Object -ComObject "Microsoft.Update.Session"$objSearcher = $UpdateSession.CreateUpdateSearcher()$objSearch = $objSearcher.BeginSearch('IsInstalled
Morning! My colleague, Nico Vibert has spent the last few weeks producing an eBook covering all the things he wished he’d known as an ex-network engineer before getting into Kubernetes. You can see his “interesting” story telling launch video here. Potentially if being tech marketing doesn’t work out for him, acting will be a good second career! 📚Introductory blog post (with excerpt to check it out before downloading): https://isovalent.com/blog/post/introducing-the-new-kubernetes-networking-and-cilium-for-the-network-engineer-ebook🖱️Download Link: https://isovalent.com/books/kubernetes-networking-and-cilium/ Here is what the 56-page eBook covers:🔧 What We Need The Network To Do 🔗 Kubernetes Networking Fundamentals 🔹 Introducing Cilium 💻 Where is my CLI? ⚙️ How do I configure Kubernetes and Cilium? 🖧 Where is my DHCP Server? 🔍 What is a Kubernetes namespace? 🔎 Where is my DNS Server? 🔍 How Do Pods Talk To Each Other? 🔍 Kubernetes Metadata 🏷️ What’s a Label? 📝 What’s an Anno

Direct to Object storage option4. The UI is fantastic3. Average write rate when doing CDP calculation can be factored in2. This is an official Veeam Calculator1. The restore simulator is back!Anyone who works in the backup space knows the importance of a good backup calculator. Not only will it save you time it could also save money. To take it a step further a Veeam sizing calculator can also help you understand how to size the Veeam environment, that’s way I am excited when I got the news from @Chas letting everyone know that the new Veeam hosted calculators are available. Before I provide an overview of some of the enhancements, I would like to extend a huge thank you to the Veeam team that worked on creating these tools Adam Congdon, David Tosoff and Olivier Rossi as well as Marty Williams provide input around
Here we are again...another VMCE Practice Question. Are you ready??Not sure if you saw one of my comments on a previous question from last week, but if you’re following along, you know I shared in a comment I will begin posting the VMCE Practice Questions on definitive days of the week → on Tuesdays and Thursdays; then I’ll provide the answers and links to both questions on Friday. That way you all can anticipate when the follow-ups/answers will be to check your responses.Questions will begin to get a bit more difficult. So, for today’s question: Your director wants to make sure the organization is more apt to recover data in the event of a malware incident. You share with her Veeam now has the ability to scan backups for malware. Your director gives the ok for you to enable the File System Analysis option. After a couple backup jobs run, you want to review logs to see if Veeam detected anything, but you're not able to find the Malware_Detection_Logs folder in the ProgramData directory
