Challenge

 

Cause

The DC boots up only in the DSRM and all services are not operational. 

Solution

To address this:
  • Make sure ESX is licensed with the vStorage APIs feature.

  • Make sure that the account used to backup the Virtual Machines has full administrative rights on Vcenter and is member of local administrator on that server.

  • Work with a standalone ESX/ESXi host that is no longer part of the vCenter (make sure that root password doesn't contain "&" symbol).
