Derran Guinan
Derran Guinan is Field CTO for the Americas at Veeam, focused on helping enterprise organizations strengthen cyber resilience in an increasingly complex threat landscape. With more than 30 years in IT and cybersecurity, he brings a blend of hands-on engineering, infrastructure leadership, and executive advisory experience—translating security realities into practical recovery strategies that work under pressure.
As part of Veeam’s Product Strategy team, Derran works directly with senior leaders to challenge assumptions about recovery. His core belief is straightforward: prevention will fail at some point—and what matters most is how fast and confidently an organization can recover. He pushes teams beyond “backup success” metrics to ask the questions that define resilience: Is the data clean and trusted? Do you have visibility into what matters most? Can you prove recovery when systems and people are under stress? His work increasingly centers on data and AI trust, including visibility, governance, and risk reduction across modern environments.
Derran’s expertise spans cyber resilience and recovery strategy, data security and ransomware recovery, executive-level cybersecurity and business continuity advisory, incident response readiness and cyber recovery planning, and cloud, hybrid, and edge resilience architectures, along with security architecture, risk management, and compliance. He is also a dedicated technical evangelist, known for public speaking and partner enablement. Prior to his current role, Derran served as Lead Sales Engineer and Security SME at Veeam, and held senior engineering roles at CrowdStrike and Palo Alto Networks, following earlier leadership positions in infrastructure and informatics. He also serves as an Advisory Board Member with the SANS Institute and regularly speaks at industry conferences and executive forums across the Americas.
