Your Guide to Microsoft Ignite 2023

The countdown to Microsoft Ignite 2023 is on! Veeam is gearing up for another great year as a Microsoft Ignite sponsor for both the online and in-person experiences. This year’s event takes place from Nov. 14 – 17, 2023, in a hybrid format, with the in-person component happening in none other than Seattle, WA at the Summit Convention Center! What better place for Microsoft to set the stage for this exciting year ahead than right in their own backyard?

Around 3,000 attendees are expected to make their way to Seattle for the event, with many more industry leaders joining online. Microsoft Ignite continues to be a major event for IT professionals that work in cloud, security, and data management, including developers, solutions architects, IT admins, decision makers, and more. It’s where the entire cloud community will come together to discuss the latest innovations in AI and security, take part in breakouts and expert discussions, experience live demos, and of course, connect with industry peers and partners.

Veeam’s expert Microsoft team is eager to connect with you no matter how you choose to experience Ignite! Keep reading for some of our tips and tricks to enhance your experience at this year’s event.

Get the Most out of Your Experience at Microsoft Ignite

With this year’s hybrid event design, it’s important to plan ahead and prioritize the sessions that interest you the most, whether in-person or online. This year’s keynote sessions are all about AI and will cover a breadth of topics ranging from security in AI, to cloud transformation with AI, to AI-driven assistance within AKS, and more. You’ll find the AI conversation is woven into most sessions this year at Ignite.

We’ll also see conversations around security, cloud, and modern work. You can look forward to engaging roundtable discussions on Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Syntex, and Microsoft 365. This year’s Ignite will also feature more live demos than ever before, making the event an excellent opportunity to explore new features, product enhancements, services, and even AI use cases. Of course, we have to include a plug for our breakout session led by Leah Troscianecki and Edward Watson: “Microsoft 365 and Azure Backup: Future-ready BC/DR Strategies for 2024”.  We’ll discuss the best practices for resilient apps and infrastructure, and share how to reduce cloud spend and simplify backup and recovery.

The easiest way to plan your Ignite experience is to use the online scheduling tools in the digital session catalog. Filter by session type, topic, and level to ensure you’re getting the most out of the event. We recommend looking out for sessions from:

  • Satya Nadella, CEO
  • Charlie Bell, EVP of Security
  • Scott Guthrie, EVP of Cloud + AI
  • Erin Chapple, CVP of Azure

These are just a few of our favorite speakers who are sure to bring exciting, innovative content to their sessions at Ignite. As you learn, be sure to bring all your questions to our teams staffing our online and in-person booth spaces (#619 in the Infrastructure Hub!).

Catch up on the Latest With Microsoft and Veeam

Let’s catch up on all the great announcements Veeam has made this year and talk a little bit about what you can expect from us in the coming months. Veeam is always innovating and iterating to ensure we’re bringing the absolute best data protection solutions to our customers. This year, we’ve shared several exciting updates that will specifically benefit our customers that implement Microsoft cloud solutions for their businesses, including new BaaS offerings, deeper technical integrations, and new product versions.

First and foremost, Veeam recently announced Cirrus by Veeam, our first ever as-a-service offering for Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure. With Cirrus, you can protect Microsoft 365 and Azure YOUR way, whether that be with self-managed/software-only, through our BaaS offerings, or managed BaaS through a Veeam service provider partner. These new offerings combine the confidence and reliability of Veeam’s backup and restore capabilities with the ease-of-use of BaaS.

We also shared some major news about the future of Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365. In case you missed it, Microsoft recently announced the Microsoft 365 Backup solution, a Syntex offering for backups of Microsoft 365 with new APIs. Veeam is happy to share that we will be building on this Microsoft collaboration and leveraging the new Microsoft 365 Backup APIs with Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365. These new APIs mean Microsoft and Veeam can integrate further to allow for faster restores when catastrophic events like ransomware strike.

Clearly, there is a lot to look forward to at this year’s Microsoft Ignite. We look forward to seeing you online and in-person in the Infrastructure Hub, booth #619. In the meantime, be sure to take advantage of the great content we’ve put together to get you up to speed on the latest and greatest from Microsoft and Veeam.
