Save time when you need it most by quickly performing point-in-time restores of your Microsoft SQL Server databases, tables and transactions.
Instant visibility into your Exchange backups provides easy granular searches, fast recovery of individual objects and more without restoring the entire database.
Enable fast object-level recovery for Active Directory from a single-pass backup or storage snapshot without additional tools or the need to restore an entire machine.
Enable fast and simple restores of SharePoint objects with deep visibility into SharePoint backups to recover anything you need in minutes with just a few clicks.
For Microsoft SQL, Exchange, Active Directory and SharePoint, Veeam Backup & Replication™ creates application-consistent, image-level backups by leveraging VSS, ensuring successful recovery of business-critical applications and services and allowing for application-specific restore scenarios.
According to Microsoft limitations, applications cannot be kept frozen longer than for 60 seconds (20 seconds for Microsoft Exchange). If the Microsoft VSS writer keeps application data frozen longer than this period, a VSS processing timeout occurs, and Veeam Backup & Replication fails to create a transaction-consistent backup of the VM. The VSS processing timeout is a common problem for highly transactional applications such as Microsoft Exchange.
To overcome this limitation, Veeam Backup & Replication uses the persistent VSS snapshots technology for backup of Microsoft Exchange VMs. If Microsoft Exchange must be kept frozen for a longer period than the allowed one, Veeam Backup & Replication automatically fails over to the persistent VSS snapshot mechanism.
Veeam provides easy-to-use Veeam Explorers™ to ease the burden of complex application and application-item recovery:
Veeam Backup & Replication can perform Microsoft SQL database log backup and truncation operations that are required to keep SQL storage healthy and running optimally.
To perform transaction log backup, Veeam Backup & Replication installs the Veeam Guest SQL Log Shipper runtime component on the VM guest OS.
The component works during the transaction log backup job session. It collects information about databases that require transaction log backup. It also detects whether it is possible to ship logs directly to the backup repository or if Veeam Backup & Replication must use the log shipping server. When the transaction log backup job session ends, the component is stopped and removed from the VM guest OS. When a new session starts, the component is installed on the VM guest OS again.
