Multiple Microsoft 365 Express Backup and Restore Improvements

Enhanced
  • Fixed an issue where the Microsoft 365 Storage Usage widget on the Dashboard displayed an incorrect list of users, grouping all users together instead of showing them individually.
  • Updated the Dashboard with improvements to the License Activity and Storage Consumption charts. The License Activity tile now shows current Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 licensed user counts and recent changes. The Storage Consumption tile now displays the top repositories by Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 storage usage.
  • Express backup now surfaces more granular item protection statuses, including Protected, Retrying, Unsupported, and Failed. New filter options allow users to narrow the view by status. Items with errors display a description to help understand the issue.
  • Administrators can now offboard individual protection units from Express protection. After offboarding is initiated, backed-up data is retained for 90 days. Offboarding can be cancelled within the grace period, which restores the standard 1-year retention.
  • Added the ability to cancel an in-progress offboarding of an Express protection unit. Cancelling restores the standard 1-year data retention for the affected items.
  • Users can now offboard individual protection units from Express backup. During the 90-day grace period following offboarding, data remains available for browsing and restore. After the grace period, data is permanently deleted.
  • The Express backup deactivation flow now uses a browser-based authentication experience (OAuth 2.0 Authorization Code flow), replacing the previous device code method.
  • Aligned the app registration permission set for Express backup with the required Microsoft 365 Backup Storage specification.
  • Introduced a dedicated restore page for data protected by Express policies, streamlining the restore process.
  • The Express restore view now includes Status and Expiring Date columns for mailboxes, OneDrive accounts, and SharePoint sites, and supports Offboard and Cancel Offboarding actions directly from the list.
  • Updated the restore confirmation message for Express protected data to more clearly explain which mailbox items will be restored, replacing the previous misleading wording.
  • When browsing items protected by Express policies, the view is now filtered to show only the mailboxes, OneDrive accounts, and SharePoint sites within the scope of the user's assigned access permissions.
  • Re-introduced the Mass Mailbox Restore advanced option, which allows restoring recent emails first within a configurable time window (default: 7 days).
  • When restoring Outlook emails or OneDrive files to an alternate location in a multi-geo environment, users can now type a destination address directly instead of selecting from a dropdown. Input is validated for correct format.
  • The app registration reauthorization flow has been updated to use a standard browser-based authentication experience (OAuth 2.0 Authorization Code flow), replacing the previous device code method.
  • Fixed an issue where retrying onboarding for a previously failed tenant did not validate whether the Microsoft 365 account being connected matched the domain name from the original onboarding attempt.
  • Improved the experience when tenant provisioning encounters an issue. Users now see a clear, actionable dialog indicating whether they can retry onboarding, reactivate Express backup from Settings, or contact support.
  • Administrators can now configure a default storage region for backed-up users and sites whose Microsoft 365 preferred data location is missing or invalid. This setting is available during onboarding, in the multi-geo mapping configuration, and in Settings → Multi-Geo Mapping.
  • Audit log now records events when a user opens Flex backup data for browsing, views items during restore configuration, or views Outlook items through Basic or Advanced Search.
  • Users can now change the backup repository password after it has been initially configured.
  • Simplified notification settings by consolidating individual user email preferences into the shared Email Recipients list. The My Preferences section has been removed from notification settings.
  • During an in-progress search, the result count now displays "Calculating…" instead of "0", making it clear that results are still being retrieved.
