Ransomware detection is now available for Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 (coming to other Veeam Data Cloud workloads at a later time). Utilizing the Random Cut Forest algorithm, this new service leverages individualized behavioral profiles and anomaly detection to identify ransomware at the earliest possible stage for immediate remediation. Veeam’s proprietary detection provides the most accurate and comprehensive coverage across a wide range of ransomware strains. The service includes a threat center which combines both ransomware and Microsoft-provided malware alerts and details, for a centralized view of any threats to your data.

Ransomware attacks are growing more frequent and sophisticated, targeting critical business data and infrastructure. Traditional detection methods fall short against modern threats, especially extended attacks that evade signature-based systems. Veeam’s ransomware system scans backups for subtle signs of intrusion—without burdening production workloads—using privacy-preserving and adaptive machine learning. Getting Started

The ransomware detection service is available within Advanced and Premium plans of Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365. Advanced and Premium customers will begin seeing Advanced Threat Detection capabilities in their tenants, starting with Premium customers first and Advanced customers shortly after.
