VeeamON 2017 is finally underway in New Orleans! We have three very exciting days to look forward to, including break-out sessions, technical deep dives and industry-renowned speakers and experts from across the world. This is truly THE Availability event of the year!
Today was the first day of VeeamON 2017 and it was entirely focused on partners and how Veeam works together with them to provide the best Availability solutions on the market. Co-CEO and President Peter McKay opened the event this year with his keynote address, Embrace the Future with Veeam. Peter thanked partners for having a tremendous 2016. Veeam showed +28% YoY growth and $607 million in total revenue bookings. He also noted that per recent customer satisfaction survey results which will be partly published soon, Veeam’s Net Promoter Score is almost twice higher the industry average.
Danny Allan, Vice President, Cloud & Alliance Strategy talked about Veeam’s customers who’re moving more and more to Multi-Cloud or Hybrid Cloud environment. Taking this into account, our goal now is to enable always-on availability for any service across all infrastructures. Veeam keeps strengthening its leadership position in the Backup as a Service (BaaS) and Disaster recovery as a Service (DRaaS) markets with 100% channel model, partnering with over 15,000 service and cloud providers globally today.
The list of announcements done on the first day of the conference is long, so here are just a few of the NEW offerings and programs which Veeam ProPartners and service providers may find interesting:
- Migrating, Managing and Protecting Public cloud (AWS, Microsoft Azure and other) workloads, physical servers and endpoints with NEW Veeam Availability Console and Veeam Agents;
- Protecting Enterprise Mission-Critical Applications with NEW Veeam CDP and vCloud Director Integration for greatly-enhanced Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) capabilities;
- Tape as a Service to help customers meet compliance requirements for archival and retention;
- Microsoft Office 365 with NEW Multi-Tenancy, multi-repository and automation capabilities in Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365;
- A NEW Veeam Cloud and Service Provider Directory to connect VARs and VCSPs, and more.
For the very first time at VeeamON, attendees took the VMCE (Veeam Certified Engineer) training and exam on site here at the event. Training started on Sunday and ended today. Among other key side events, Veeam hosted the Veeam Vanguards for an exclusive event for those who understand our brand best. One key highlight was a EXCLUSIVE Ask Me Anything with Veeam R&D.

I attended a terrific session today by Veeam’s Betsy Bender called How to Get More from the VCSP Program. She offered great information on how companies can leverage the VCSP (Veeam Cloud Service Provider) program to create new offerings for their customers. The room was full, so we had to keep doors open to allow more people listen.
Later, Veeam’s Sam Nicholls and Clint Wyckoff presented NEW Veeam Availability Console and the Agents, which included a comprehensive live demo. I found out that Veeam Availability Console Release Candidate is already out, but there is more information to come.
Stay tuned for VeeamON updates. We’ll make sure to keep you in the loop on all new product and feature announcements.
