A Veeam Agent backup job targeted at the Microsoft OneDrive cloud storage silently skips OneDrive files located on a personal workstation if the "Files On-Demand" option is enabled.

Due to some recent policy changes the OneDrive "Files On-Demand" option might be enabled by default and there is a specific reparse point type that is not supported by Veeam Agent for Windows yet. As a result, the OneDrive folder is skipped during the backup and is not available for the recovery process.

The solution to support a newer reparse point is addressed to next versions of Veeam Agent for Windows.
The fastest workaround for now is to disable the "Files On-Demand" option. This approach lets to back up all files located in the OneDrive folder.

To disable the "Files On-Demand" option, do the following:

  1. Log in to the target computer.
  2. Right-click the OneDrive icon in the notification area or in the File Explorer.
  3. Go to Settings > the "Settings" tab.
  4. Under Files On-Demand clear the "Save space and download files as you use them" check box.
  5. Click OK.

After that, all the OneDrive files will be downloaded to the computer.
