Purpose

This article documents recommended post-restore actions that should be taken after restoring VMs, physical machines, and cloud machines to the oVirt KVM hypervisor.

Solution

Starting in the oVirt KVM Plug-In included with Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3, a feature has been added that allows users to restore VMs, Physical machines, and Cloud machines to the oVirt KVM hypervisor. However, after such a restore, several recommended actions are suggested to maximize performance and functionality.

  • Install guest tools and drivers.
  • Change the disk bus type to one that is more efficient.
  • Change the network adapter type to one that is more efficient.
