Requirements

Please confirm that you are running Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure v8 (build 8.0.0.334) or later before upgrading. You can find the currently installed build number (Product version) in the About section under Configuration | Support Information | Updates.

After installing Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure v8 patch 1, your build number will be 8.0.0.377.

Below are details about each of the Cumulative Patches that have been released for Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure version 8.

Each subsequent Cumulative Patch also includes all fixes present in the previous Cumulative Patches.

Enhancements

General

  • API usage for storage accounts and snapshot handling has been improved, which should result in reduced Microsoft Azure costs.
Resolved Issues

General

  • Under certain conditions, the infrastructure rescan procedure may fail with the following error message:
    Error: Failed to perform the full synchronization cycle
    
  • After upgrading to v8, the Veeam backup appliance may be unable to detect Storage Accounts and File Shares under certain conditions.
  • The infrastructure rescan operation may take an unusually long time to complete.
  • When backing up an Azure VM with Veeam Backup & Replication, the backup appliance changes the permissions of the %programdata%\Veeam\ folder in the guest OS of the processed VM.

Backup

  • Under certain conditions, the backup policy may fail with the following error message, which can result in backup data corruption:
    Item either was not backed up successfully or restore chain is corrupted
    
  • Under certain conditions, the backup policy may create incomplete restore points, resulting in backup data corruption.
  • When multiple backup repositories are used in a single policy, the backup operation may fail with the following error message:
    Data block not found
    
  • Azure SQL backup may fail with 0 bytes transferred and the following error message:
    Failed to invoke agent command: DataTransfer.SyncDisk. TCP stream was closed
    
  • Configured worker profiles are ignored when processing Azure SQL instances.
  • The backup policy may fail with the following error message:
    Failed SAS export: Too many simultaneous imports or exports using disk access object.
    
  • vNet backup policy fails with the following error message:
    Response payload size is 18005485 and has exceeded the limit of 16777216
    
  • Veeam Backup & Replication may display incorrect information about restore points unless a full rescan of the Veeam backup appliance is performed.

Guest Processing

  • After upgrading to version 8 and running backup policies for VMs, the VSS process fails on the German locale of Microsoft Windows.

Restore

  • Restoring a VM with a static IP configuration fails when the target network has a different IP range.
  • The restore operation may fail with the following error message:
    Failed to restore auto-shutdown settings. Error: Invalid URI: The URI is empty.
    
  • File-level restore to the original location fails when the target VM is located in a different subscription than the worker.
  • VM restore to the original location may fail with the following error message:
    The resource batch move request has '1' validation errors. ErrorCode: ResourceMoveValidationFailedContent
    

Deployment Information

Update the appliances as described in the Updating Appliances Using Console section of the Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure User Guide.

Alternatively, follow the instructions in the Installing Updates section of the Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure User Guide.
