Below are the most commonly asked questions.

What changed with the Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 experience?
Veeam transitioned customers to the Veeam Data Cloud Platform, a unified multi-workload interface. This new experience allows customers to manage Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Salesforce, and other workloads from a single platform at cloud.veeam.com.
When did the migration occur?
Migrations began on October 1st, 2025, and were completed on June 9th, 2026. Customers were migrated in batches and closely monitored to ensure a smooth transition.
What happened during migration?
The migration only affected the management interface; backups continued to run normally. Once migration was completed, login to the classic Veeam Data Cloud interface was disabled, and users were redirected to cloud.veeam.com. Roles, subscriptions, and backup policies were transferred.
Did my login credentials change?
No, your credentials did not change. After migration, you are redirected to the new Veeam Data Cloud Platform. Please update your bookmarks to cloud.veeam.com.
What if I can’t log in to the new interface?
If login fails, it may be due to domain mismatches. We have enhanced security requirements on the Veeam Data Cloud Platform and require that your domain is registered to the same Microsoft ID tenant as your primary domain. Contact support if you need assistance with logging in.
Were roles and permissions preserved?
Roles were translated as closely as possible. The Veeam Data Cloud Platform scopes permissions at user assignment, not role creation, which may result in minor differences. Admins may need to review and adjust roles post-migration.
Were backups affected during migration?
No. Backups continued to run normally. The migration only affected the management interface. Data is retained in the classic Veeam Data Cloud service for rollback if needed.
Can I restore from old backups after migration?
Yes! All your historic backups are accessible for restore using the new Veeam Data Cloud interface.
What differences will I find in the new Veeam Data Cloud Platform?

The Veeam Data Cloud platform is a multi-workload experience. You can protect, monitor, and manage multiple workloads from a single UI, including Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Salesforce.

Role and User management differences:

  • Users and roles are managed in the unified platform rather than the Microsoft 365 interface.
  • Permissions are scoped at user assignment, not role creation.
  • The new platform does not currently support scoping roles to Entra ID groups; this support is coming soon.
  • Self-service restore is enabled directly in your Microsoft 365 workload tenant settings. Role assignment is not required and will not activate this feature. For more information, see Enabling Self-Service Restore.
  • Enhanced security requirements on the Veeam Data Cloud Platform require that user domains be registered to the same Microsoft ID tenant as your primary domain registered with Veeam.

Once you select your Microsoft 365 tenant, the interface is similar, with some minor differences:

  • Immediately after migration, one month of operational logs was available. These logs include recent user activity and notifications logs, licensed users, and storage use graphs. The complete history was restored within two weeks.
  • Any active Download in background operations were interrupted during migration. If yours was affected, restart the restore or contact support for help.
  • The new interface does not support customized tenant display names. Any tenant renames made in the old interface were not preserved during migration.
  • The new interface does not support logo and colour customizations. Any such changes made in the old interface were not preserved during migration.

For details of the new interface see the Veeam Data Cloud User Guide

How were customers notified?

Customers were notified through the Veeam Data Cloud Platform interface with:

  • A pre-migration email.
  • An in-progress in-app alert.
  • A post-migration in-app message with instructions and links.
I’m managed by a VCSP. Was I migrated?
Yes. VCSP (Veeam Cloud Service Provider) customers and their tenants were migrated to the new Veeam Data Cloud Platform along with all other customers.
What if a user from outside my organisation has a login to my VDC tenant?
Those users were migrated, but you will not be able to add users from that domain going forward. The Veeam Data Cloud Platform has enhanced security requirements and requires that user domains are registered to the same Microsoft ID tenant as your primary domain registered with Veeam.
My organization has multiple Microsoft tenants or domains. How was this handled?
All tenants linked to your organisation were consolidated under the primary organisation but remain separate for policy creation and restore. Only users with an email domain registered to the same Microsoft ID tenant as your primary domain registered with Veeam can be used for login.
Who do I contact for help?
