Challenge

Due to Microsoft's deprecation of Basic SKU Public IP addresses, starting on March 31st, 2025, the following product features that utilize the Basic SKU Public IP address will be impacted:

Veeam Backup & Replication
Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365

Solution

Details about the solution for each affected product have been organized into their own expandable sections to minimize confusion and reduce the risk of a hotfix for one application being applied to another.
Veeam Backup & Replication
Repackaged Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.1 ISOs

The install and update ISOs for Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.1 were repackaged on 2025-03-31 to include this hotfix.

  • All customers operating version 12.3 or older are advised to download the new ISOs from KB4696 and upgrade to resolve this issue.
  • All customers operating version 12.3.1 are advised to download and install the hotfix available below.

Hotfix for Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.1

The following hotfix for Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.1 will change the software from using Basic SKU Public IP Address to Standard SKU.

Requirement

This hotfix for Veeam Backup & Replication requires build 12.3.1.1139. You can check the build number in the Veeam Backup & Replication Console's Main Menu (≡) under Help > About.

Note: If the Veeam Backup & Replication deployment is running 12.3.0.310 or older, please review KB4696 and use the repackaged ISO that includes this hotfix.

Notice to Service Providers
All Service Providers who plan to use the Remote Console functionality with their tenants are advised to apply this hotfix on both their Veeam Cloud Connect 12.3.1 server and their tenant's Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.1 server

Deployment Validation

This hotfix does not change the build number of the software. To validate that the hotfix has been deployed, compare the hash value of the file present on the system with the known hash value of the hotfix file.

  • Veeam.Backup.AzureAPI.dll — SHA1: 9386713B8E104910D78AFC877F06F3DC234BB1FA

The following PowerShell command can be used to check the SHA1 hash value of a given file.
Note: This example command checks the dll in its default location, the path may need to adjusted if Veeam Backup & Replication was installed to a different drive or folder.

Get-FileHash -Path 'C:\Program Files\Veeam\Backup and Replication\Backup\Veeam.Backup.AzureAPI.dll' -Algorithm SHA1
Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365
This issue is corrected starting in the following build of Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365:
Starting in Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 8.1.1.159, the software will utilize Standard SKU Public IPs instead of the soon-to-be deprecated Basic SKU. This build also introduces several performance optimizations and improvements.
