Challenge

When installing the license file, the following error message may occur:
License signature is invalid

Cause

Sometimes the license check module is unable to process the license key correctly, some certificates are missing, outdated or machine has no internet connection to verify them.

Solution

Update Certificates

Review and install updated certificates manually as per this KB article.


Outdated Certificates

If one of the certificates is outdated, follow the steps from Microsoft's article to change the certificate revocation policy.


Disable Certificate Revocation Check

If the machine is not connected to the internet, certificate status cannot be verified. To workaround this follow the steps below to completely disable certificate verification:

  1. Control Panel > Internet Options (inetcpl.cpl)
  2. Go to the Advanced tab
  3. Scroll down to the Security section, and uncheck the following:
    • Check for publisher's certificate revocation
    • Check for server certificate revocation
    • Check for signatures on downloaded programs
       
  4. Click OK
  5. Reboot
