Challenge

After you install or upgrade to Veeam Backup & Replication v6, some replication jobs fail with the following error:

Unknown network: not VMNetwork neither DVS

The issue persists if the job is created from scratch.

Cause

The error typically occurs because the source .vmx file contains a reference to a network adapter that is either not used, or has been previously removed.

Solution

To resolve the issue, remove the reference to the network adapter from the .vmx file. To do so, you can add a new network adapter to the problem VM, save the configuration and then remove the adapter.
