"License is not Installed" Error when adding license file to Veeam Backup

Veeam Backup & Replication
Last Modified:

When you attempt to add a license in to Veeam Backup & Replication, you receive the following error:

User-added image

This error means you are likely using a license key that is for a previous version, such as v6.5, of Veeam Backup & Replication, or the file is incomplete

You can confirm you are using the correct version of Veeam Backup & Replication with the correct license.

First, open Help > About in Veeam Backup console to show the version:

Once you have confirmed the correct version of Veeam Backup & Replication, you can open your license file using Notepad in Windows:

If the license file is blank or incomplete, save the file again (as UTF8) and verify the contents. If saving the file through a webmail client results in a blank file each time, try saving it locally first and then copy the file to the Veeam Backup server.
