Resilience Without Blind Spots: Veeam’s Q3 Innovation Pulse

Right now, do you know what's actually at risk in your environment? Most leaders can't answer that fast enough. Not because the answer doesn't exist, but because the data they need to inform their answer is scattered. Every blind spot is a business risk waiting to surface at the worst possible moment: an audit, a ransomware event, a board question you can't answer on the spot. The answer is probably buried across dozens of consoles, alerts, and reports that nobody has time to reconcile, and by the time someone pulls it all together, the moment that mattered has already passed. Uncover the Threat Intelligence Already in Your Backups

Security just confirmed the intrusion, and now every question lands on you: What was hit? When did it start? Which backup can you trust? You’re digging through one console while Security digs through another, and every minute of downtime makes those answers more expensive.

If this sounds familiar, you’re in good company. In most organizations, Security operations and IT backup teams operate in parallel rather than together, and attackers know it. It is no secret that ransomware attacks target backups directly. They’re your last line of defense. But those backups also hold a wealth of threat intelligence: Evidence of what was hit, when it started, and what’s still clean. ... Read more

Adverse Cyber Extortion Outcomes Happen More Often Than Victims Are Told

In February of 2024, a consortium of law enforcement agencies took down LockBit ransomware group. The discovery that LockBit retained victims’ stolen data despite promises to delete it demonstrates a critical flaw in the advice often given to ransomware victims. At the time, many legal and incident response professionals recommended payment on the assumption that LockBit had a strong financial incentive to honor its commitments and that the likelihood of data being publicly released after payment was relatively low. While that assessment may have appeared reasonable based on short-term observed outcomes, it relied heavily on assumptions about the behavior of a criminal enterprise that could never be independently verified. How Veeam and Arms Cyber Help Protect Recovery Infrastructure from Modern Cyberattacks

Organizations invest in backup to ensure they can recover when the unexpected happens. But today’s attackers understand that recovery is often the greatest obstacle to a successful attack. Rather than focusing solely on production systems, attackers increasingly target backup infrastructure itself: Attempting to delete backups, disable services, and compromise recovery points before launching an attack. Minimum Viable Business and Minimum Viable Company for Cyber Resilience: What You Need to Know

MVB or MVC refers to the minimum possible version of an organization that can still operate should an incident bring down systems and operations. They are critical concepts in cyber resilience planning and response. They define the bare minimum operations, processes, systems, and data an organization must restore to remain functional after a cyberattack. Read more
