How to copy AWS EMR cluster hive scripts

I recently had a situation where I was discussing a scenario with Veeam Backup & Replication deployed completely in the public cloud. In fact, many organizations have the Veeam Backup & Replication server in the cloud and are managing either AWS EC2 or Azure VM backups with Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows and Veeam Agent for Linux. In this situation, there was a discussion about managing the hive scripts that are part of the AWS EMR cluster. I offered a simple solution: the Veeam File Copy Job. Read more

At Veeam, every day we wake up thinking about data… your data! We’re constantly thinking about the unique ways we can protect that data better; how we can do it more efficiently; how we can make restore times even faster, and even where tomorrow’s data will reside.

Windows Server 2019 and what we need to do now: Migrate and Upgrade!

What is the right thing to do today to prepare for leveraging Windows Server 2019? I’m convinced there is no single answer on the best way to address these systems; rather the right approach is to identify options that are suitable for each workload. This may also match some questions you may have. Should I move the workload to Azure? How do I safely upgrade my domain functional level? Should I use Azure SQL? Should I take physical Windows Server 2008 R2 systems and virtualize them or move to Azure? Should I migrate to the latest Hyper-V platform? What do I do if I don’t have the source code? These are all indeed natural questions to have now. Read more

3 steps to extend your archival options to Microsoft Azure Blob storage

Long-term archival policies remain a consistent part of many enterprise infrastructures today. The need to maintain the 3-2-1 rule, ensure corporate standards, or provide regulatory compliance, keep liability of archival options out of the question. Convenient use of virtual tape libraries (VTL) enables enterprise businesses to extend their tape-based backups to virtual disks, or simply switch to newer operational methods without a long preparation as the staff is familiar with the terms already. While Veeam provides native tape support for backing up to virtual tape libraries, it’s now extending it with an option to leverage StarWind VTL for Microsoft Azure Blob Storage, enabling all users looking for cheap and reliable cloud storage to easily and securely store backups/files there.
