V lednu 2022 provedla nezávislá výzkumná agentura průzkum mezi tisícovkou nezaujatých vedoucích pracovníků v oblasti IT, který se týkal vlivu ransomwaru na jejich prostředí a strategií v oblasti IT a iniciativ na ochranu dat do budoucna. Jedná se o první široký výzkum trhu související s ransomwarem, který si zadala společnost Veeam. Respondenti se rekrutovali z firem a organizací všech velikostí, které se nacházely v Asijsko-pacifické oblasti, USA a Severní a Jižní Americe včetně 300 respondentů z oblasti EMEA a které čelily v roce 2021 alespoň jednomu kybernetickému útoku.
