Organizations may purchase up to three two-socket bundles for a total of six CPU sockets of Veeam Backup Essentials.
Veeam defines an organization as:
A company or any affiliates of the company, whether a separate legal entity or not, which is or becomes owned or controlled directly or indirectly, or is under common control with the company or its successor entity as to more than fifty (50) per cent of such company’s issued equity share capital, voting rights and/or the like. Organizations can span geographic locations, lines of business, domains and other organizational characteristics.
Examples of companies considered to be single organizations include:
Licenses for Veeam Backup Essentials are purchased on a perpetual basis with basic or production maintenance or a subscription license, which includes 24x7 production support.
Veeam Backup Essentials is licensed in two-socket bundles on hosts with VMs to be backed up, replicated, monitored or reported on. A license is required for each motherboard socket as reported by the hypervisor API.
NOTE: Target hosts for replication and migration jobs do not need to be licensed.
No. Only one edition (Standard, Enterprise or Enterprise Plus) can be used in the same physical location. Furthermore, all licensed editions must be the same across multiple locations to manage them through one Veeam Enterprise Manager.
This requirement applies to all Veeam Backup & Replication deployments, including multi-hypervisor environments. For example, if you have five licenses for vSphere and five licenses for Hyper-V in a location, all 10 licenses must be either Standard, Enterprise or Enterprise Plus.
Current customers who wish to upgrade to Enterprise or Enterprise Plus must upgrade all current licenses to receive a merged license file.
You have two upgrade options: Veeam Availability Suite and Veeam Backup & Replication. Both options are offered for the difference in price between the product you’re upgrading from (Veeam Backup Essentials) to the price of the product you’re upgrading to (either Veeam Availability Suite or Veeam Backup & Replication).
It is recommended that organizations currently holding licenses for Veeam Backup Essentials and any individually licensed Veeam product contact a Veeam sales representative to discuss appropriate upgrade options.
