Challenge

Customer receives the below error when attempting to restore a file through Windows File Level Restore:

User-added image

Cause

The currently logged in user does not have sufficient permissions to access the file that is being restored.

Solution

There are two ways to resolve this issue.

First, log out, and log back in to the Veeam server as a user who has rights to read those files and folders you are attempting to restore, then perform the restore operation again.

Alternatively, execute an "Other OS File Level Restore" of this machine. As the Other OS option is OS agnostic, it is unaware of file permissions inside the backup, and will allow any user to restore the files.
