General product family overview:
iCAS FS is a software based, highly scalable platform based on Linux and commodity hardware that can be used for data archiving and as a backup target. Data is immediately written to several dedicated cluster nodes with a configured number of replicas. The cluster is externally accessible with virtual IP addresses that will transparently fail over from one node to another, making eventual downtime of individual nodes transparent to the client. In addition, the system is self-healing, so that error conditions will be automatically fixed. Therefore, this ensures maximum protection against manipulation, corruption, and unauthorized data access.

  • All other settings are the default settings of an iCAS FS installation.
  • Depending on the required capacity, an iCAS FS cluster can be configured from one up to several nodes.
  • A 10 GbE connection has been used for testing; if necessary, a higher network speed can be achieved by using other NICs.
