NEW Veeam® Agent for Microsoft Windows v3 is the latest version of Veeam’s industry-leading Availability solution for Windows-based workloads. In addition to the multiple features introduced previously, Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows v3 delivers several exciting updates.
What’s new in Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows v3
Full integration with latest Microsoft Technologies
Microsoft Windows Server 2019 and Microsoft Windows 10 May Update. Enables users to install Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows and protect the latest Microsoft Windows operating systems.
2019 Microsoft enterprise applications. Support for the 2019 releases of Microsoft’s enterprise applications is also included. This is achieved by providing application-aware image processing for Microsoft Exchange Server and Microsoft SharePoint, as well as application item-level recoveries through the corresponding Veeam Explorers™ for each application, ensuring high-speed recovery through fast RTOs of < 15 minutes.
Multiple backup jobs
Achieve the desired RPO by utilizing multiple backup schedules for different datasets by creating multiple backup jobs for:
Workstation Edition (with Veeam Cloud Connect repository as a target) Store your backup files to an unlimited amount of Veeam Cloud Connect repositories in addition to the local backup job to keep the backup files on site for fast recovery.
Server edition. Create unlimited number of backup jobs to any destination to cover the most complicated data protection scenarios.
Define the scope of network rules for your backup agents to use network bandwidth more efficiently. You can:
Define the scope of Wi-Fi networks allowed for backup
Disable backup over metered connections or VPN
Set the desired bandwidth limit for your backup traffic
USB Drive backup
Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows allows you to protect your periodically connected USB drives without any harm to the regular day-to-day backup activity. With new logic backup job can detect the removable USB drive and include it in the backup when it’s connected.
Portable license support. Eliminate the complexity and license sprawl with new portable instance-based Veeam license which is integrated with standalone installation of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows.
Integration with Action Center. Stay up to date with Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows notifications integrated directly into Microsoft Windows Action Center and receive notifications notified whenever a license is expired and needs to be renewed, new Recovery Media must be created, or new version is available.
Storage-level corruption guard. Periodically scan backup files to identify potential data corruption caused by underlying storage degradation. Corrupted data blocks are auto healed by retrieving the correct data from the production storage, increasing the reliability of forever-incremental backups and eliminating the need for periodic full backups.
Full backup file defragmentation and compaction. Reduce storage consumption by decreasing the size of your full backup file. Initiate the fragmentation by recreating backup files periodically based on the actual data, while moving obsolete data into the dedicated files which can be manually deleted or archived as necessary.
Deleted machine retention. Make sure that obsolete backup files do not consume space on the backup repository by setting the deleted machine retention. Whenever a decommissioned machine with agent installation fails to upload backup files to Veeam backup repository or Veeam Cloud Connect repository, Veeam Backup & Replication or Veeam Cloud Connect can perform a cleanup and remove the backup files marked for deletion according to the configured retention value.
File level recovery without local administrator account. Control and delegate self-service file level recovery capabilities to an end-user, whenever the backup agent is controlled by Veeam Availability Console or Veeam Backup & Replication server.
New Command Line interfaces. Trigger the Recovery Media creation via command line interface whenever it’s required. Moreover, the backup job summary will now contain the exact command line syntax to provide the ability to integrate backup job with your custom script or Windows Task Scheduler.
Boot in the Safe Mode. Boot Operating System in the Safe Mode directly from Recovery Media.
Recovery Media version. Recovery Media boot screen contains the information about its version.
