Hybrid cloud lays the groundwork for our digital future

Digital transformation is a topic that is not only dominating the headlines, but also dominating emerging IT strategies and, increasingly, the investments of nearly every company. In the words of Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, “Over the next 10 years, we’ll reach a point where everything is digitized.” You’ve read and heard from Veeam many times about how multi-cloud strategies are emerging as a winning proposition to enable the agility and Availability organizations need to realize their digital transformation goals.

These ideas were on full display last week at VMworld in Las Vegas. Long a pioneer and leader in transformational technologies like virtualization and the Software Defined Data Center, VMware formally launched its partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), which is currently the largest public-cloud vendor in the market. You can read more about the announcement we made in response to the VMware and AWS partnership here: Veeam announces Veeam Availability Suite for VMware Cloud on AWS.

The VMware/AWS launch was significant for several reasons, including the choice and flexibility it provides for customers and partners to deliver cloud solutions at scale using familiar tools for deploying and managing those environments.

The launch was, to many, a clear indication that in a multi-cloud world, it is no longer a matter of public OR private; it’s a matter of public AND private. Success in the cloud requires soberly assessing the fitness for use of different cloud platforms (for example, finding the right cloud for the right workload), and relying on a consistent set of technologies that optimize performance and reliably deliver IT solutions that meet an organization’s needs.

Public cloud platforms are essential players and key innovators, delivering a broad range of services for numerous workloads, including data protection and Availability. And while there are multiple factors to consider, public clouds, in many cases, provide excellent options for any company’s BaaS (Backup as a Service) and/or DRaaS (Disaster Recovery as a Service) strategies. The potential for material economic benefits, scalability and flexibility are compelling and can make it easier for organizations to implement business continuity strategies and platforms.

Veeam recognizes that in a multi-cloud world, providing data Availability across any cloud infrastructure — public, private or hybrid — is a fundamental requirement. It’s a theme that you’ll continue to see in everything we deliver as we work to enable every customer to transform and move forward.
