Challenge

Tape job fails with the following error messages:
The system cannot find the file specified. Problem with CreateFile in '\\.\Tape0'. The system cannot find the file specified.
The system cannot find the path specified.
The specified network name is no longer available.

Cause

The issue occurs when the tape drive is reinitialized within the operating system while the job is actively writing to it.

Solution

Change the Startup Type of Portable Device Enumerator Service from "Manual" to "Disabled".
