Requirements

Before installing Dell EMC PowerMax Plug-In v1.0.84, ensure that you are running Veeam Backup & Replication 10.0.0.4461 or later. To check the version, open the main menu of the Veeam Backup & Replication console and select Help > About.

Dell EMC PowerMax Plug-In v1.0.84 supports integration with the following storage systems:

  • Dell EMC PowerMax/VMAX All Flash (PowerMax OS microcode family 5978 or later)
  • Unisphere for PowerMax 9.2.1.6 or later

Follow detailed instructions on configuring the Dell EMC PowerMax Plug-in and the storage system in the Dell EMC documentation.

Known Issues

The following is a list of known major issues for Dell EMC PowerMax Plug-In for Veeam Backup & Replication.

  • Dell EMC PowerMax Plug-In does not support adding two Unisphere servers with the same array(s) as "local". Doing so will cause issues with discovery and can lead to undesirable results.
  • In large environments, selecting volumes from infrastructure while adding storage to Veeam B&R might take considerable time. In this case, it is recommended to use wildcards in the volume selection dialog to reduce the number of volumes to be scanned.
  • Export operations may fail when many jobs are triggered in parallel or trigger when the storage system is processing other tasks. As a workaround, create fewer jobs processing a larger number of VMs.
  • Storage cache overflow may occur in case of a high number of tasks triggered in parallel. As a workaround, perform cache cleanup and contact Dell EMC support for further investigation.
  • Temporary clone volumes with the -DeletePending suffix created during backup jobs may remain on storage until the next storage rescan operation.
  • Dell EMC PowerMax Plug-In does not support backing up of failover clusters using Veeam Agent for Windows.
