This technical white paper provides an overview of the Cisco Validate Design (CVD) for FlashStack Data Protection with Veeam.

Cisco, Pure Storage and Veeam partnered together to test and document a CVD for FlashStack protected by Veeam to a choice of three backup storage targets. FlashStack provides pre-integrated, and pre-validated, Converged Infrastructure (CI) that includes all the compute, networking and storage needed for mission-critical applications and workloads. The compute and networking in the FlashStack are provided by Cisco, the storage is provided by Pure Storage.  Veeam has full featured storage snapshot integration with the Pure Storage FlashArray//X that provides the FlashStack’s flash storage.

This CVD also tested Veeam backing up to, and recovering from, three backup storage options.  The first is a Pure Storage FlashArray//C with a Cisco C220 rack server.  The second is a Cisco C240 All-Flash server.  The third is a Cisco S3260 storage server.  Each of these backup options provide different features and performance.  Depending on your requirements for backup storage, all three should be considered to replace your legacy backup storage.

Customer Benefits:
  • Fast, low-risk deployments
  • Consistent application performance
  • Modern data and application data protection
  • Rapid recovery and lower RPOs
  • Repurpose data for test dev, forensics, compliance and analytics
