Five ways hybrid cloud backup using Veeam and NetApp AltaVault can make your job easier

IT managers tasked with ensuring the Availability of business services may often feel like the tragic figure Sisyphus of Greek mythology. Punished for eternity by the gods, Sisyphus was forced to roll an enormous bolder up a hill only to see it come tumbling back towards him once it reached the summit. Feel like you’re living in your own Greek passion play when it comes to managing your data protection environment? Fear not. Your sentence may soon be commuted.

Five considerations when searching for an off-site backup solution

For a number of years now, Veeam has been talking about the 3-2-1 rule of backups, whereby you keep three copies of your backup data on two different media types with at least one of those backups held off-site. Traditionally, most organizations have been able to put this into play by taking advantage of on-premises storage and media hardware along with multiple data center locations to cater for the off-site requirements. This is where off-site data backup services can come into play to satisfy the off-site backup services requirement.

Cisco HyperFlex snapshot integration coming soon with Veeam Availability Suite 9.5 Update 2

These innovations already enhance the existing flexible and modular platform, which combines compute performance nodes, hyper converged storage and networking.

But there is more in HX 2.0 than what is mentioned above.

Ransomware Survey: By the Numbers

If one thing has the attention of IT decision makers worldwide, it is the risk of ransomware. We frequently see headlines on outages caused by ransomware and the reality is that this is a big problem for organizations of all shapes and sizes.

Veeam has taken ransomware seriously for a while now . We’ve incorporated features into products, as well as started recommending technical practices and designs to provide resiliency to recover, should there be an incident. We took an additional step and tried to quantify ransomware incidents and some of this information was shocking. One important issue that I’ve raised recently in regard to ransomware is for anyone who thinks it is just a PC problem: It can be a ... Read more

A victory for innovators everywhere: Veeam successfully dismisses Symantec’s unfounded patent infringement claims

The technology industry is driven by change and innovation. This has been Veeam’s mantra for the past decade, but not all vendors feel the same way. Some fear innovation, and they will go to great lengths to stifle this in others, especially when it poses a risk to their revenue stream.

This is why, back in 2012, Symantec tried to disrupt our momentum because its legacy physical backup products could not compete with Veeam's innovative approach to delivering Availability solutions for the Always-On Enterprise. Symantec initiated two separate lawsuits in the U.S. District Court in the Northern District of California — the first lawsuit was filed in February 2012 and the second in October ... Read more
